I just bought my G fully loaded except Navi and was wondering how hard it would be to install it?..........And of course how much?......
Would it be cheaper just to go aftermarket?....Oh and I dont want to replace the HU just yet...
I havent seen a clean install on a 06, or any install on a G....

check out the audio/video forum...go aftermarket...it will be a pain in the **** to install the oem navi and the cost of making it fit is just not worth it...good luck

Very hard to install. I saw picts on this forum or 6mt.net and he basically had the whole freaking car apart and it took him 10 plus hours to do...and he clearly knew his $hit. Pretty pricey to get installed too.

I went w/ an aftermarket, Garmin Nuvi 660 and love it. There's a few threads on this forum that show a few options for mounting it & hardwiring it (including a few from me) so it looks real clean IMO.

Good luck.

Aftermarket DD is easier to do and you get a better stereo out of it too. There is one guy who just finished adding an oem one to his car over in the audi/video section.

Aftermarket. Get the DD kit and most people will not be able to tell its not OEM. I have the Pioneer Avic Z1 and it looks and functions great better than the OEM nav.

I did it. Took me the better part of a day and I did have to gut the entire dash.

'06 Navi units are not easy to find on the used market. Not that many cars had it and not that many have been totalled yet. If you're not particularly skilled at car maintenance, then I wouldn't attempt it and just bite the bullet and spend the money on a DD conversion and aftermarket unit. I've spent tons of time disassembling Nissans (I did the fab/electronics work on two turbo Maximas) so it wasn't anything new to me.
