seat memory - auto entry/exit

2005 G35x

Is it possible to use the seat memory function, but disable the auto entry/exit feature? Basically, I don't want the auto seat movement on entry/exit, but the seat memory buttons would be useful.

Thanks.

I don't think you can do that on my 04 without turning the auto seat switch on and off every time. If you rarely change the position that might work. I'm just curiious (=nosey) but why don't you like the auto function?

Thanks. That's basically what I'm seeing to, and I believe it tends to forget the seat memory setting if I flip the switch off.

I don't care for it because I will typically have my laptop bag right behind the driver seat, on the floor. The auto exit just cranks the seat back to far, squishing the bag and making it difficult to put back in the car when I return.

It's not critical to have the seat memory, 95% of the time I'm the only one driving.....just a nice to have

He,he, I can relate. On the rare occasion that I drive my wife's car I use the spare key which is programmed to my seat settings. When I unlock the doors the seat adjusts to my settings.

As I climb in the car, I always hear crunching and rumpling as the seat acts like a trash compactor smashing everything she has behind the drivers seat. Sometimes I do it on purpose just to remind her she should clean out her car.

Once the seat slides back, I can barely get into the back seat and I am only 5'9". What if someone is sitting back there or a rear facing child seat and the seat automatically slides back? Could be very bad. Is there a sensor that will stop the seat once it hits something or is there a setting that controls how far the entry assist will push the seat back? I am aware that the entry assist can be turned off, but its cool to have, just goes too far back.

Yes, you can disable the auto entry/exit without turning off the seat memory function. I've had mine set this way from day one.
Quote from the manual:

The entry/exit function can be activated
or cancelled by pressing and holding the
SET switch for more than 10 seconds
while the ignition switch is in the LOCK
position. The indicator light will blink
once when the function is cancelled, and
the indicator light will blink twice when
the function is activated.

I think in '05 the intelligent key was still an option but I don't know if that effects your question... Our '05 is running the way you describe above. I just thought it was a lot to ask of the seat motors to work every time we got in and out, not to mention a waste of battery power. But our two key fobs are linked to different memory settings so the seat only moves when it's the "other" driver who presses the door button. Cool feature.
It's tedious to program though - "hold this button for more than 1 second but less than 5..." etc. Check your owners manual for the step by step.

I think it's part of the premium package. Not every G has it I don't beleive.

It can be disabled. I turned me off because I'm 6'1" and my seat is far back already. Whoever sits behind me is getting CRUSHED when i open my door

I wish we could disable just the seat portion, and leave the steering wheel retract part working
