Belts covered under warranty???

Are drive belts covered under warranty?? My 05 G has only 27k.... and it seems like they need replacement already. Its 187.50 for the belts.

No that's wear and tear, your belts should be fine, are there any cracks in the belts? If you still have bumper to bumper warranty and you have a defective belt, then I would say yes, they should cover it.

I just changed my yesterday @ 49k and the PS/Alt belt only had three ribs instead of the four it was supposed to have. Its not to hard to change them out though!

27k is a bit low but it depends on your conditions.

Also $187! You can buy new Gates or Gatorback for ~$40 and DIY in an hour with a few wrenches, ratchet and sockets.

The biggest mission is taking off the under body plastic cover.... after that its cake... all you need is a 10Mm for the plastic cover, a 12MM for the tensioner and a 14MM for the pulley..... should take you no more than 30 minutes ..... While talking

Thanks guys....

Car was in for having the alternator bearing change..... i asked him to leave my belts alone.... you are right... they should be fine.

I think he was trying to get me to change them as they were off anyways....
I was not falling for that.

They always try to get you to change the belts while they are in there. If it was cheap ~$50-60 I would do it but for that much they better take you to dinner first and use lube after!

Was your car at the stealership or third party?

The belts are manually adjusted so they often just need a bit of a tightening.
