Oil leak?

Recently I've noticed a slight burning oil smell coming from the heat duct when I idle in drive for long periods. I changed my oil last weekend in the bitter cold and saw oil deposits at the bottom of the radiator. This was not transmission fluid. My transmission lines/connections are fine. I also saw some deposits to the rear on the plastic undercover. Didn't see any obvious leaks up in the engine. Just lost about 1/2 quart since my last change 3K ago. Any ideas?

Thanks

Did you tighten your oil filter tight enough? Could you have possibly spilt a bit of oil on the exhaust manifold when changing?

Lol! It's been too freakin' cold here to really spend a lot of time looking. I almost got frostbite in my fingers when I changed the oil.

I let the car idle for 5 minutes after changing, no sign of anything.

booo!!

Ive changed my oil in the snow!

yea, I do the same thing, let it idle and check for leaks.

did you put in a new copper crush washer? my dealer told me that you could reuse them, but they will eventually fail

X's oil filter is a bitch and a half to instal b/c it faces foward (on RWD model it faces rearward)...so when you remove the filter, oil spills on the roll bar (or whatever suspension linkage is there. and you cant avoid it

RWD faces to the passenger side, not back. Still a bitch and makes a mess but I doubt it’s as bad as yours. The RWD one is way better than any other car I have ever owned.
