I had my heat set at 64 degrees. When I put it down to 62 I don't smell it.

I've smelled this, too. I attributed it to the fact that I was wearing boots with rubber soles for snow and the hot air blowing on them created the odor(???)

Sometimes, I can smell it outside the car, towards the front, when I'm parked in the garage...

I've noticed the smell as well. It smells like rubber so I assumed it was my break fluid. I did notice the smell when my VDC kicks or after I use the snow mode. If something is evaporating, I hope we find it b/c the fluid will eventually be empty and we will all will have more misfortune's ahead...

I smell the same odor.... there is one way to find out for sure if its your brakes.... pull the e-brakes and drive your car for 3-4 miles.... if you smell the same odor... then its your brakes.... otherwise its something else.

I doubt that would give you any answers--all it'll do is eat up your parking-brake shoes. The e-brake is a separate system from the regular brakes. There are brake shoes in the rear that holds the car when you pull the e-brake handle. It's not the rear pads holding the rotors...
