VDC + Burning Rubber smell

With all the snow we've been getting, the VDC kicks in quite a bit while I'm driving through it. When parked, I notice a slight burning rubber smell (I liken it to a balloon) coming through the vents. Do you all think this is normal? I don't notice the smell any other times...

DUDE!! Noticed the exact same thing this morning. I thought it was the tires spinning too fast, but I had great traction with my winter tires in 3" of snow this morning. I'd love to know what this rubber smell is. My VDC did engage a little bit this morning.

im no expert, but I'm wanting to say that what ur smelling are hot brake disc, from the VDC slowing ur wheels to gain traction in the snow. Best Guess ><, please don't flame.... I smell the same thing when i take turns too hard with VDC on, but tires always seem to be fine, so best guess is the brakes not the tires

My thoughts exactly. I know it's not burnt tires because I'm getting minimal wheelspin with the Blizzaks. Most of the time, I hear my VDC cutting the gas (or that's what I think it's doing) instead of hitting the ABS...

Hmm,

maybe thats why my rear brakes are around 40% and the fronts are at 80%.

well part of the vdc system does say that it slows wheel by applying brake force, but the mystery is why does it smell like rubber because hot brakes usually smell, but not exactly a rubber smell eh.... maybe there's something wrong with our noses

Not all the G's come with the LSD option. My Coupe with Sport package does though. For the other guys who posted and noticed this smell, do you have LSD?
I wouldn't think brakes would smell exactly like smoked rubber. This has got me curious

I also get the same smell. I thought it was cause my floor mats were getting to hot or something. I only notice though when the climate control whichs to feet and defog mode. I have no LSD and I get the same smell even when it is dry out.

Mine's an 04 6MT, so it does have the LSD. I'm not familiar enough with LSD to say that it would cause the smell though...

Could be the VLSD if it got nice and hot. My guess is more on the brakes.

this is what I post about yesterday. I notice it anytime I drive around an hour +then idle. I guess as I think back to my old scooby doo which had a LSD it had a similar odor under these circumstance mentione in my post and the above.......
