Traded my coupe for a day. the X rulez in the snow

A shout out to all the X owners in the house.... I took my coupe in for some damage that the dealer did to my rims when inspecting the brakes and the gave me an X for the day. Well last night the snow storm hit (Michigan) and I got to drive in crappy weather. My G would have died and froze in the bottom of some ditch. The X on the other hand rocked. I tried to slide it around a few times and the stability/traction control was sweet. Even on pure ice i stood on the gas, then the brakes, perfect.

I need one just for the winter.

Yeah back there AWD is so worth it! Too bad they don't make a 6MT "X"

We had quite a bit of snow up here in Chicago too. My RWD 6MT with Blizzaks handled it very well, so can't complain about the RWD and snow. Never got stuck, and it climbed the driveway just fine. Funny thing is, I felt more in control of the G than when I drove my wife's RX300 in the snow this week. The G would predictably fishtail slightly and pull itself back together on a turn. The RX300 would understeer and skid wide a little more than I was comfortable with, although it's AWD with traction control...

i think the rx300 is front wheel based AWD system and thats the reason for understeers

My wife's RX330 is exactly the same. Parked my G and drove her RX the last two days due to the snow and ice here. My G is much more controllable in the snow (and fun) than the RX. The RX however never had a bit of trouble...it is just soulless like most Toyota products. Does have better heated seat though.
The G 6MT on snow tires (mine are Dunlop Graspiks) is a ton better than trying w/o snow tires but AWD will win though in the snow everytime.

LMAO, what a ridiculous comment! I am sure braking with bald all season tires is nothing more than skill.

True--the RX takes off better in the snow because of the AWD, whereas the G is really slow to start--VDC cuts the gas like crazy, and if it didn't then we'd just be spinning tires.... Once moving though, they both performed the same. It was just in the turns that I sometimes had to hold my breath with the RX, as it understeered slightly and headed towards the curb closer than I woulda liked.
