~!@Anyone's door hard to close?~!@

It seems to take some extra umph to close the doors on my g35. on all of the doors actually. anyone else have this? i have 4 cars and this is the hardest. people are like what is up with your door. they have to use quite some effort into closing the door. then when they get into my lexus they use the same amount of energy and it sounds like they broke my door by slamming it so hard. so anyone have the same problem as me?

I notice it does take a little more effort than I'm used to, but not excessively so, certainly not enough force to qualify as slamming. It also helps, when you close the door, to keep contact with it after it shuts.. so it doesn't have a chance to bounce back open.

I'm real fussy about my doors all closing nicely without slamming. The first thing I noticed about the G's was that the doors didn't need any adjustment, were nice and tight, and aligned real well.
Have a look at yours for squareness, fit, and if the striker and Nader pin come together cleanly. If all looks good then your difficulty is due to 'airtightness'.
An easy way to check that is the leave the window down slightly just to see how the door closes.
Hope this helps, good luck with your G.

I paid special attention to the sound of closing door when I visited the deal. door slamming on sedan sounds very solid and clean even my son was impressed. but the couple on the showroom floor sounds
kind of rattling, I think b/c it has frameless windows and windows were down.

Silver/Graphite/Premium/Sports/Winter and love it

gsedanman hit it right on the nose. I have a G35S and when I brought in for the free 1,500 km oil change I complained that the passenger door needed a lot more force to close the door (in addition to a noise coming from the rear deck). The dealer said this was due to the door being out of alignment. Anyways they corrected it and it seems to close without that much force now. However I noticed the same problem on th drivers door- I am going to get it fix when I get my 6,000 KM oil change.

I have exactly the same problem you're experiencing. The front doors are BAD: I could not believe it: it takes me or my wife, 2-3 tries before the doors close correctly. It's ridiculous !

Have you fixed yours (the alignment stuff) ? Was that it ?

yep shocks can go bad too the easiest way is to to a meet and find someone with a wing and ask if you can open their trunk.. if its way easier then yours then replacement shocks are due.. You can get OEMs or NRGs both offer replacement trunk shocks.. most aftermarket vendors call them "dampers".
