Come on guys, don't be so arrogant. The Altima is a fast ride. Car and driver tested a 5MT at 5.9/14.6 Published times for an AT G35 are 6.2 and 5.6 for the MT G35. If they got the jump on you, there would be nothing you could do.

Well since the original question was who would win a stock G sedan 5AT or stock Altima 3.5 4AT. I’d put my money on the G sedan.

R&T, 7.1s to 60 and 15.4s in ¼ mile @ 91 MPH for the Altima 3.5SE 4AT.
R&T 6.2s to 60 and 14.7s in ¼ mile @ 95 MPH for the G sedan 5AT.

Those times are from the same mag for a fair determination as you can see the Altima 3.5 AT would fall way back in a race against an auto G sedan. Even if the Altima would get a jump on you, eventually you’d catch up pretty quickly.

 

Hmmm...I used to sell Nissans and the Altima 3.5SEs were pretty quick...I think it'd be a driver's race, to be honest...But driver to driver, both equally skilled, I'd think the G35 would take the race...Not by a huge margin, but I think the G35 would win

A 6MT Altima with a decent driver has run 13's before, STOCK. I don't recall seeing too many G35S's 6mts running 13's stock.....

 

Where do you get a 6MT Altima STOCK? I thought they were 5 speeds.

I thought if you wanted a 5MT, you had to get a 2.5 Altima, and all the 3.5's are 5AT's. At least in the US anyway. Am I wrong?

According to Nissan's website,(design your Nissan) the Altima 3.5SE comes with the 5 speed MT, the AT is a $500 option, maybe it was not available on the '03's. Also, looking at Nissan's Japan website, it doesn't appear there is even an Altima in their lineup. http://www.nissan.co.jp/ Oh, and isn't strange the Z there has a California plate on it! there are stock 4AT altimas with best times of 14.4 and stock 5MT with times at 13.9.

5MT has always been available in the altima, ever since 93 when they came out.

My auto 3.5 2002 altima ran a 14.9 stock in phoenix (1200 ft, 100 degrees), with boltons I ran 14.5 at the above conditions (corrects to 14.3)

Don't get all high and mighty it is a drivers race.
