OEM Coupe Mid vs Straight Pipe

I had the straight pipe put in about a month ago and I must say I am very unpleased with it. There is a lot of drone and rattling in the 2000 to 3500 RMP range. I just ordered the coupe mid-pipe and I'm having it installed 2morrow. I also think the with the straight pipe it seems that there is a power loss in the high RPM range. The exhaust itself is pretty loud inside the car. It sounds decent outside but gets to be annoying with the drone.

Anybody here would have told you not to completely delete the resonator by running a straight pipe. I'm sure you'll find the coupe middy very accomodating.

The coupe middy will most likely still give you a slight drone around 2500 rpm but nothing near what you have now.

At least you tried it so you don't need to wonder now.

my straight pipe gain quit a bit of power at high RPM when used with the HKS Muffler

cuz straight pipe + stock muffler = 0 power gain and stock mid pipe + HKS also = 0 power gain.

but both together, it works really well. also a Y Pipe helps alot too

OK i got the mid put in and it seems that it is louder than the straight pipe - the drone. do I have to give it a little time to break in? It sounds like a chevy berreta inside the car. def noticeable torque gains or maybe its just back to what it used to be

What year is your sedan? if you have a pre 05 you should just put in the 05/06 mid pipe.

You should just go with a 05 or 06 mid pipe. Sounds pretty good, lighter than than your oem one and no drone.

Is there a different part number for the 05-06 pipe compared to the 03-04?

the coupe midpipe will work for either but he is saying you should use an 05-06 sedan midpipe since the resonator is larger than the coupe one so there is no drone but it is still lighter than the 03/04 resonator.

The middy won't be louder than a straight pipe. You have at least killed the raspiness by installing the coupe midpipe that serves as a resonator

Let me know how it turns out. I'm really interested if its just me or something else. I also have th 5/16 spacer on and a ztube. The car from outside sounds quiet and when floored sounds like a beast I love it. But inside the car is what bothers me.
