first @#%@#($ accident in the G

what a sh!tty morning. i got into an accident on my way to work. here's the gist of what happened. i take a freeway exit and get on a downward sloping offramp. there are a few cars at a stop all waiting to merge on to a street. finally cars start moving. the car in front of me starts to merge into the street then comes to a sudden stop, halfway into the street and the other half in the crosswalk. i have no time to react and rear end the vehicle in front of me. i was going about 2-3 mph (however fast you go when you don't have your foot on the gas).

end result? no visible damage to her car but her @#(@ tow hook put a hole in my bumper.

am i at fault here? i don't think so. pics of the scene are below. i've already reported it to my insurance. an adjuster will be in touch with me in 2 days and we'll have to work it from there.

what does a brand new '06 bumper cost? how much labor should i expect for installation?

Damn sorry to hear about this. I know exactly where in Frisco that is. I hate driving in SF I get road rage something terrible over there. A guy followed me to a gas station once and we got into a fist fight over him making an illegal turn and side swiping my last car. I see you're in oakland why not just take bart into the city?

I was kidding. Anyway, unfortunately, it's going to be your fault. And I'd let the insurance take care of it unless you can score an used one cheap enough. It's probably $1500 if you let the insurance take care of it.

looks like i can get the front bumper cover from riverside infiniti for $200... MSRP is $300, does that seem like the right price? i don't think i need the absorber replaced since it just looks like surface damage

if you dont do a whole repaint which apparently works out better depending on the size of the whole since plastic and metal paints never match not even from the factory. they have this new process where they can put a small piece in that area and just blend the area, looks pretty darn good. someone rear ended my sister when she was driving my G a few mos after I got it and the body shop i know suggested it over a complete replacement for the paint reason.

since my car is black, paint matching shouldn't be too bad right?

That sucks, but you're more than likely at fault. These "she went, I checked traffic, then realized she stopped, too late" accidents are pretty common. Unfortunately the person behind normally takes the hit here.

looks like according to this post, should run me about $600-700 for a fully painted replacement cover (hopefully there's no other damage)

Full Replacement:
Bumper: $300
Body Labor: $95
Paint Labor: $150
Paint Supplies: $100
Total: $675 (Including tax + extra BS costs)
