Used Nismo Kit Sold As New?!

I know the title looks a bit disturbing as chad was a great guy and hooked all of us up including myself with fat deals...but now he is gone I cannot get an explaination therefore I will just have to post it here and get y'all opinon. As you most of you know, I was recently involved in an accident along with my nismo front that was purchased in the GB last year with Chad. I took the car to the shop and they are in the process of repairing it and told me that there was a layer of color underneath....and it was RED! And I had seen that but thought it was just primer coat and didnt pay much attention to it but the bodyshop owner (my good friend) told me that there is no way primer coat is in red especially since my car is in DP i wouldn't think so either. I am not sure why there was a coat or red paint underneath, but the bodyshop guys told me it looks liek the bumper was repainted into my color and they did not do a very good job. I am in no way accusing anyone, but just was curious as to how this can happen. Well, I did some research and found this most likely explaination from Mercedes Benz. Sometimes they replacement ship body parts from Germany (in my case Japan) already painted. If they have overstock in that color and other colors are needed, they will repaint the bumper but sell the part as "USED". I was under the impression that I bought a brand new nismo bumper because it was at a GREAT PRICE! Now, I do recall when i picked up the bumper that there were chalk writing on the back of the cover but that didnt bother me much. Maybe it was painted, but now its gone so who cares. I will be getting a new one (full kit actually) and hopefully this doesnt happen to me again.

wow, very interesting...
may I ask how much is your "GREAT PRICE"?
Because I bought my kit during the negotiation. The only discount the dealer could give me was dealer cost + labor.

Wow that sucks, I'm sorry. As the guy who worked with Chadd to do that deal please know I did not know anything about it and I doubt he did either. I sure hope this is not the case with all of us!

FYI the last GB price was $780 shipped for the front and $900 shipped for the sides and rear. Those prices are not around anymore. The best deal now is ~$2100-ish for the full kit.

dont worry about it tim, it wouldnt have happened without you..and a lot of people are able to rock the nismo front cuz of you so it was still a good thing what you did. my sedan is set to come back to life in due time and trust me...some upgrades are in store

afaik the nismo kit does come from the factory pre-painted, it's very possible that He just didn't have the color you wanted so painted one he had, dunno though, but he seemed like a good guy.

I don't know if it was really used...my sister's car is silver and it has red primer and I really doubt the dealer painted a red car silver so she would buy it...Also my front lip had writting on the inside, but it was done with a sharpie.

They do make some urethane stuff out of red material but I don't think the aero body kit is one of them. As for the primer, I have no clue.

That is interesting.

When I purchased my kit a while back from everythingg35.com, it came boxed up in NISSAN labeled boxes. Shipping package invoice was also from Nissan.
