Did some research since I read this thread. I've always used Castrol Syntec on my 1997 Nissan Maxima since 54,000 miles. Now, it has 84,000 miles, 17,000 plus with the turbo = 10W40 and Fram filters always worked great.

But I think I'm going to step up to Amsoil synthetic for the G35 and Fram Filters.

Did a change this morning with 5qts of German Castrol and 1.5qts of M1 15W50 15k mile stuff. Should be good for another 2k now. The last stuff looked like tar and was only 10weeks / 2,200 miles old.

+1 on the walmart oil. $23.00 for a 5 qt jug.
as far as the filter goes, has anyone tried the Super Tech filters that walmart sell? I use that for my Jet Ski as it was rated very good, but I dont know if i want to put a $2.00 filter on a $30K+ car. Any thoughts.
When Can I change to full synthetic? I have ~2k miles on my new ride?
Thanks

Oil purchase was for Armada..

I retract my prior statement. I did more research and if I can find it German Castrol and Pure One filters FTW!

Good Thread!!!
