Muffler and CAI

Muffler and CAI
Ok! i got a nismo CAI and havent put it on yet.
Some of my friend told me that i will need to change the muffler so it can release more air as my air intake get more air for my engine or there is no use of putting the intake because the extra air will not exit freely...is that true?
Do i actually gotta change muffler too?
Nismo say the CAI will gain 5+HP is that true? anyone dyno it before?

Re: Muffler and CAI
the more your car can breathe, the more gain youll get. you can get a CAI and still gain horsepower, and really, a muffler alone will do nothing. The intake will becomre more effective once you get a fulle exhaust. Your friend is thinking right...the more your put in in, the more youll have to put out. He's just going at it the wrong way

Re: Muffler and CAI
I/H/E (intake, headers, exhaust) is a first step for any car enthusiast to gain more power, however you can start with CAI then continue with headers and exhaust. In addition, ECU reflash is highly recommended as well.

Re: Muffler and CAI
Any power mod should see you resetting the ECU. Reflashing the ECU, as in the technosquare reflashing another alltogether different thing that does do things for automatic trans G's. But I have yet to see real evidance that paints such a picture for the manuel tranny cars, here or on my350z.com, least not the kind of evidance that has me thinking I just have to have it. How the reflash is seen by ECU readers at the dealer and at emission testing is also a concern.

Re: Muffler and CAI
Install the CAI.
I have the INJEN CAI and my next phase is to change the exhaust. I already notice the extra horsepower gain and higher torque. The stock exhaust is ok for now. Play around with it and listen to your engin rev! It sounds really great espescially over 3,500+ RPM. Depending on your driving habit, you will lose gas mileage. This is what I did. Fill up the car full tank (premium unleaded). Drive the car normal. Reset your mileage on your odometer. On the second fill up, drive the hell out of your car. See if there is any lose in gas mileage. At first, I thought I lost about 40miles per tank. I reset it again and noticed I didn't lose any. Keep track of your gas mileage and which gasoline you use! My first choice is TEXACO second best is Chevron, and 3rd is 76.
I notice the performance is best with TEXACO...with ARCO, it runs like sh*t..just my opinion. Have fun with your CAI.

So the fulle exhaust is the next on your list right?
Can you recommand any mods for me?
and for the muffler...I really like the sound of the stock one.
I mean, i dont really like those loud ones which wakes people up in the middle of the night. and should i change all 3 parts of the muffler or middle and end section would do?
