Infiniti of Modesto, CA (aka Valley Infiniti)

Today I took my mom's G35 to Modesto for service at Infiniti of Modesto (used to be known as Valley Infiniti). She took my Explorer to work and hated it but that's another story. Anyway here is my experience from the day:

Dropped the car off for service and was told it would take about 1hr. and 20 minutes to complete the old change, tire rotation, and in-cabin air filter replacement. For the first hour I walked over to the Infiniti Dealer, which is across the street from the service department and test drove an '07 G35S (yet another story some other time). I returned to the service department about one hour after dropping the car off. While waiting the additional time for the service to be completed I observed the following:

I watched a service tech work on an FX35 that was having issues with one of it's taillights. I watched as the service tech backed it out of the service bay turned it around and backed into the space hitting one of the oil drums they have and he didn't even check the vehicle for any damage. Glad this tech wasn't working on my mom's G35.

The next thing I noticed was my mom's car being pulled out from the service bay and taked on the street and pretty much a full throttle run down the street. The service advisor came in and said he was taking it for a test drive to make sure it was ok. I was a little unhappy but didn't say anything as I didn't expect anything else.

Later this evening I was wahing the G and noticed that one of the wheels has been damaged to the point of paint coming off the wheel in a spot. My mom is calling tomorrow but I think I may call as well and tell them of the other stuff I've witnessed. My mom is unhappy with the condition of the wheel especially since there are marks all the way around it. Hopefully the dealer will fess up and offer to fix it free of charge. I'll post a pic of the worst damage on the wheel. I don't know if it's the best pic as it was in early evening.

I don't want to say this dealer is bad with service but this is not making me reassured that they are actually taking good care of the vehicles with what I witnessed today and the damage found on the car.

Also, if this is in the wrong section, mods please move it to where it should be as I wasn't sure myself.

Cliff notes:

-service tech backed up FX into stuff and didn't check for damage
-service tech drive my mom's car crazily
-some service tech damaged a wheel on my mom's car

Happy?

At least I put it in paragraphs unlike other people and I thought people would like to know the whole story and not just cliff notes but I understand some people are lazy.

I tried but the black specs are where the paint is gone. I tried polishing it out with my Menzerna.

Just before I took the pic. My mom handwashes it herself when I'm away at school.

In any event my mother said she doesn't care anymore about the mark so whatever.

You got off easy with some wheel chipping. I once took my 04 G35x to the dealer for regular service and I picked it up at night so I didn't really inspect the body because it was dark. When I got home and pulled into my garage, I noticed a really deep gash on the passenger side C pillar (outside of car). It seemed like a pointy metal object had struck the car and cut it deep (couple of mm deep!) Now my car wasn't in the perfect condition, it had other body damage. But I know FOR SURE that was not there when I dropped the car off. But since I brought it home without saying anything before I left, I couldn't really say anything the next day (no way to prove it). So I ended up getting it fixed out of my pocket along with the rest of the car. Lucky for me I know an auto body guy!

just like once i took my 02 6mt maxima in for tsb work and the service advisor said they couldn't get to it but it had 10 miles added to it while sitting on the lot.... yet they still wrote on the work order that no mileage change occured...

just goes to show how certain service departs don't give a squat about your ride...

Ugh. Guess I really am lucky to only get minor damage done after reading those stories.

Take my 2004 6MT Sedan to Infiniti of Pleasanton, which is where I bought it.

Always take good care, never yet a problem (have 45K miles now), and I am pretty meticulous (****?) about my car's condition and appearance.

I do remember being very upset once, when I was out on the lot looking at cars and saw my car fly by and enter the street sideways, tires smoking as the service tech screamed off down the street, banging the gears like a screeen door in the wind. But, I did take it there because of the transmission grinding when shifted under WOT acceleration, and as the Service Manager said, we've gotta test it under "real world" conditions, sir".

Anyway, I was there when the tech advisor screamed back into the parking lot, flipped the keys to the Service Manager, and said "Yep, she needs a new tranny!". Replaced Transmission, Clutch, Pressure Plate, & Throwout bearing - no problems since!

It's a 50 mile drive each way, but might be worth it to try Pleasanton (they are owned by the Hendrick Group).

FYI - I recommend you pass on the free car wash during service, as the rags they use will scratch the paint and leave minor swirl marks (deadly on a black car like mine!).

My $0.02

Think he meant that might've already been there and didn't noticed cuz your car was dirty? That is REALLY small man.
