brake torque on launch...rev to about 2-3k and punch on the gas

You would only want to do that on the tracks of course!

To fully utilize the MM, make sure you shift to gear 1 in parking lots so you can hear your exhausts...

^^^thats an 03-04 thing, they dont have down shift rev-matching. the 05-06's dont jerk nearly as hard as the ealier models. id say if ur gona downshift do it when u dont mind being slowed down.

would it hurt the car any if I downshift while slowing down? because while braking in manumatic its a lot smoother without downshifting especially from 2nd to 1st

I have a jerk when slowing down in manual mode on my 03 :/ Dealer could not diagnose the problem. If I downshift myself while braking, the car doesn't jerk, but if I leave it in manual and let the car downshift by itself when I brake, it jerks going from 3-2 and then from 2-1. It NEVER jerks in auto mode, tho

We'll see how the tranny behaves after the TT. Hopefully by replacing all the fluid, etc, it helped. If not, time for a SFR built tranny

My car does that to. I don't think it's bad...just another way to slow down without using your brakes. It's not like your going from 5th to 1st and tearing the transmission apart.

manumatic (i call tiptronic which is a benz or bmw term?) is only for kicks and giggles. Surprisingly a lot of people believe it makes the car quicker, i doubt it. Our tranny shifts right before the redline and you do not deal with the delay from shifting it yourself. The jerking on braking while downshifting happened like once to me when i put it 3->1. I think its caused by the engine attempting to rev match but the rpm is too low anyways. Its fun if you are bored and trying to wake up a neighborhood though. I find manumatic only useful if your racing from a roll vs a car without it. You can pretty much select your rpm at the start and always get the jump.
