G35 Sedan V35 2003-06 Discussion about the 1st Generation V35 G35 Sedan

Why doesn't 260hp/260tq light up tires more easily?

The most important factor our autos don't spin, is the first gear is really tall or the rear end is to tall. If i floor it, it doesn't do much untill 3k then it really starts to pull at 4k.

If you believe the new V6 Camry will "smoke the G", then maybe... well, I honestly I don't know what to say.

Driving under the influence can be a very deceptive

I will give the V6 Camry credit for being fast for what it is, but it will not smoke any G. It might smoke the driver... but not the G.

It can keep up though... until you hit the twisties.

^+1

I just watched one try to race a < 05 coupe and lost by a decent amount. BTW, the coupe is not as light as the sedan with the same specs...

Actually the gearing is pretty ideal. Sure, it's a 3.3 gear, BUT it also has 5 gears therefore the 5 gears can be lower. Do the gear calculations with regards to the power curve of the VQ35 and you'll see that the gearing is pretty much spot on for the 1/4 mile. Look at the 1st G35 5AT power to weight ratio and you'll see that it's the gearing and decent stall rpm that allows this car to perform quite well. I don't see many other 5AT sedans out there with 270-280hp pulling low 14s stock.

This is not entirely relevant to the thread, but I just had to share:

Your saying you've raced a camry against some guys in sedans? How many times has this happened? I have yet to get another G or Z to even run me

Anyone that's having trouble, here's an acid test. Stop on an incline, turn of VDC, put it in neutral, rev engine to 4-5K, foot off the brake so you start rolling backwards slowly, pop it into drive and floor it in one motion.

Haven't done that in the G but worked for every other car I've owned, don't break anything!

With my AWD fuse pulled I can get a nice chirp from the rear wheels, However the last thing I want to do is light up my T1R'S.. lol Just an FYI not sittin there and spinin ur tires is a good thing, that means your connecting and launching perfect, whats the problem with that?

perhaps the drivers of the G35's you came across had no intentions of racing a Camry...

brake + throttle at the same time cuts power on my car (even with VDC off)... I haven't yet pulled fuse, or plug... I would veture to say my car is not unique - so it's likely that your car will do the same. If you think youare laying down rubber with this method I'm not sure you are understanding what your car is doing... take it to a track and apply brake and throttle at the same time and see how long it takes the car to react.

This is the method I use at the track and I barely chirp a tire, but it because I line up in the groove and the track usually has good prep. On the street, I hold the brake, mash the gas to the floor, and release the brake about a second later (~2500rpms on the tach) and the tires will spin a bit. In sub 60 degree weather, the tire spin can be pretty dramatic with the car fish tailing a bit as it runs through 1st gear. It's actually quite fun, but definitely not the quickest way to accelerate The ECU definitely cuts power when both the brake and throttle are applied, but it doesn't seem to limit the car's ability to spin the tires. I'd love to figure out how to get rid of the ECU nanny because I know this car could launch far harder. I really don't even know why Nissan put this into the design.
