Trunk Interior Pull Handle

I took off the inside black plastic pull handle in the trunk and it won't stay back on. Is there something that i might of broken preventing it from staying secure?

Check the metal clips. Make sure that they aren't completely flat. If they are use a flat head to pull them back out. Also check the sheet metal of your trunk as that is pliable also. Good luck

I think i broke the clips then.. The only metal clip i felt was on the left side of the inside. Nothing clips onto the metal clip. I think i broke the tabs on the black handle then. When you remove the handle, do you pull to the right or straight out?

When I removed mine, I used a flat head screw driver to bend the metal tabs in.

Here is what mine looks like, I just pulled it off with a putty knife, way bleepin' easier.

All the scrapes are from the first time I pulled it off, I couldn't find the flipping tabs.

Hope this helps you.

Pictures are worth a thousand words! Thanks!!! There aren't any clips on the black handle. I pulled it off one time and was able to put it back on. They must have fallen inside the trunk lid or something.

I just installed an OEM spoiler on my 03 G35, and when I needed to remove the trunk lid liner to run the wiring, I had to take the black handle off. Came off easy, but took me much longer to put back on. Mine does not have the metal clips either, its just black plastic. I found out that I had been pushing on it so hard to get it to "snap" into place, that I had actually bent the inside of the trunk lid where it seats. So I used some pliers to pull the edges of the hole back out, then the black handle popped right back in.

Maybe the different years use different handles? (03-04 vs. 05-06)

I think you are right. Mines an 03.5 so it doesn't have the metal clips. Good thing I didn't go looking for the metal clips.
