Chirpless vehicle..

Hey guys, need some help.

When I used to lock or unlock my car via the key FOB or the button on the door handle, the vehicle used to chirp at me. Once or twice depending on locking or unlocking.

Started this weekend but now it no longer chirps. Lights still flash, doors still lock and unlock but just no chirp. Is this something I could have accidentally undone myself or is this an issue?

Thanks for the help.

hold the lock and unlock buttons on your key fob down till the car honks.

Hey, will doing the opposite, holding the lock and unlock buttons for a few swconds, turn off the chirping/honking feature? It's interesting how one person likes the honking and another doesn't.

Yep, it will.

Edit: Also if you press the lock button while one door is open it also eliminates the beep (only that once). Helps when you come home late and don't want to wake everyone.

Yes, I tried both these suggestions and they work. As always, this is the best place for information.

Awesome, I hate when I get home from work late (around 1:30AM) and I have to honk my horn to lock my car. I had been meaning to look into changing that setting, but never got around to it. Got lucky and someone asked the question for me.

Never liked that feature either. My GF's Mazda3 will honk if you press it twice but not the first time.

I never liked the "honk", has anyone ever changed theirs to a more "electronic" chirp....or something similar to Toyota's stock alarm "tone"??

KP Technologies (www.kptechnologies.com) sells an "electronic beep" module that sounds like the Lexus beep when you lock/unlock the doors. Runs $45 plus a $7 relay. I'd be interested to see if anyone has installed this and what their opinion is.
