My Work VSXX gold project failed today (spacers)

So I had ordered 19 x 8.5 +42 work vsxx gold a month ago. With them I also got the WORK black open ended lug nuts, work vs caps, work hub centric rings (to go from 73mm bore to 66mm nissan).

Mounted them today and the rears cleared fine. However the fronts did not clear the stock non-brembo brakes and the wheels touch the front brakes. My heart sank as I had properly researched before buying these wheels and correct offsets (https://g35driver.com/forums/showthr...155953&page=6).

So my questions to fit the wheels are:

1. The g35 bolts/lugnuts are tapered right? H&r spacers has a guide on their site to bolt measurement (http://www.hrsprings.com/site/products/trak.html). First is to determine the bolt type and then stock bolt length.

2. Anyone know the stock bolt length.

3. Im trying out one 7mm spacer tomorrow (just putting one wheel on and seeing the clearance). WOuld I need longer bolts?

Thanks,
Clint

The stock lug nuts are tapered/acorn/tuner style, but the doesnt really matter because the lug nuts you use will be determined by the wheels you have, but almost all aftermarket wheels use the tapered/acorn/tuner style lug nuts.

You'll need longer bolts in order to get enough turns on the lugs.

Do you know of a guide on how to replace the bolts?

The shop should be able to do. I think they need to remove the calibers, knock out the old ones and put in the new ones. Since your getting spacers, get a set of 4 so front and rears will be more flush.

The spokes on the new wheel are touching the caliper (i think thats what you call the part with the arrow pointing to).

you must have received 8.5 +42 offset in the "O" disk. Your vendor should've known "O" disk in the front would not work in the G. It is always recommended to get "A" disk in the front.

Anyway, why don't you try sending them back to get the correct specs? If that's not an option, you need to get hubcentric wheel spacers. All spacers (or most) that are 5mm or more, come with a set of longer studs which is a definite MUST in your case. Then go to your local wheel shop and get a set of tuner lugs and you're good to go.

you CAN run 'O' disk in front but not at that high of an offset. Chico said it best... something in 'A' disk would have been better suited to the application.

im running a conservative setup on my VSXX - 19x8 front ET38/A disk, 19x9 rear ET48/O disk - my wheels bolted right on, didnt roll fenders, and i dont rub. if my camera didnt get stolen, id have pics by now

Chico is right about the vendor and i would follow that advice as well

if i were in your position, i'd get the vendor to order the right ones and not worry about the studs at all. IMO, you shouldnt have to mod any part of the existing wheel/hub assembly to accomodate your new wheels. you should be able to bolt them on and go, especially since you mentioned in your other thread that you dont intend of lowering the car, much, or at all.

as much as you paid for the set itself, they should have fit and your vendor should be willing to make this change for you.

btw since the wheels are mounted on the tires I dont think sending them back is an option. Additionally the vendor had them shipped from japan and that took them 4 weeks. So if they take them back then a longer wait.

I can live with spacers and extra bolts rather than sending them back.

The Work rims I have are 8.5" in the front, O-Disc, and with a 38 offset and I have no problems with the spokes clearing the calipers.

Sorry, I didn't think you'd have a problem with a 42mm offset either. If this is the case then I'd recommend 5mm spacers also. I'm not sure how much spoke design comes into play but this should the offset low enough without going too low.

What is the difference between an "O" disk and a "A" disk?

i am going to get 3 or 5mm spacers put in on Sat. These are machined ones for now. I will get branded ones later since they take 4 weeks.

Should I only put spacers on the front or on all 4?

O disk is deep lip vs A disk which is low lip (for brake clearance). R disk is for BBK
