rear valve stemp core over-tightened
rear valve stemp core over-tightened
Hi, thank you so much for all the suggestion for tires. I just got new tires installed on my car at Costco. They left a note saying "the right rear valve stemp core over-tightened". The service person said "he didn't want to try to remove it b'coz if it breaks, they will have to pay for it".
What is the right rear valve stem core? How does it get overtightened? how much does this cost to replace? My car has 30k miles and this is the first time the tires are replaced. I am thinking of taking the car to the dealer tomorrow, so they will take a look at it. How much cost am I look at here? What are my options if this ends up being an expensive repair. Surely, I never touched the thing and I don't know if it's losened/tightened at the time of tire roatations.
Really appreciate your input. Thanks.

Oh, and for ballerina, the valve stem core is the actual valve that holds the air in. They usually replace the whole valve stem (that's the part that sticks out of the rim to add air to) when they change a tire, but since ours are solid metal they just replace the inside part.
right the valve stem is a little tiny metal device that costs like 5 cents hehe but of course if that breaks inside the SENSOR which we have then they will have to figure out a way to remove it without damaging the sensor i bet they were just being sensitive and scared to do it..so if you can get a hold of a new valve core and the tool needed just remove it really really slowly yourself..unless you too find that it IS too tight...
