Gas Octane decision

Gas Octane decision
I have a 04 g35x sedan and I have been putting 93 octane in for the past 8 months basically how long I have had the car for. Now i tried to search, the manual says 91 octane I think or higher. What if I put in 87 octane? I dont care about performance or any of that. I just want to drive the car and have my same gas mileage. I get about 400 miles per fill up. I dont want to hurt my engine by putting in lower octane, but there really is no point in putting in 93 octane. Alot of people care about there performance and how fast the car goes. I just want to drive the car. who puts 87 in?

I call BS!
1st - no one in a G gets 400 miles per tank... I won't even waste my time with anyone that says they do after this... its total B.S.!!!!
Secondly - even if you travel 500 miles per week... so f-ing what. a few dollars here and there?... PLEASE!
Give me your itemized expenses and I'll tell you better places to cut a few bucks.
Sorry to be so crass but these kinds of posts irk me

You CAN get 400 miles to a tank, EASILY.
They just have to be 95% highway miles. I have got 420 to one tank before.
You must use at least 91 octane in the G unless you want to get knocking and risk engine damage. Our engines are made and tuned for at least 91 octane, anything less then you risk damaging the car. Why would buy a 40k car and try to save $3 per tank?

I suppose I stand corrected... This is the first time I've ever read a MPG thread where anyone stated 400 (or close) miles per tank... how many miles are you both driving past the empty light?... I never really pushed it... when I did mainly hwy miles I got 320 (avg) when the light came on... I never went more than 10-20 more than that... I imagine if willing to chance running out of fuel 400 "could" be possible?... I would never indicate that that's how many miles I get per tank though.
Are you getting 400 prior (or even at) low fuel light?... I’m just baffled because I would think Infiniti would be all over this in their marketing campaign!!!! I mean this is HUGE!~~~~~
Edit: the post I referenced decided to omit... I guess I'll omit too...

My manual says to never run 87 unless you absolutley have to and only put in a little then run the tank dry then fill up with 91 or better. Man if I could get 93 octane in Cali I'de use it ever day. With 87 your gonna get more detonation I.E: pinging , spark knock ect. which is terrible on a motor and our cars already have detonation as it is. 87 can also hurt feul economy so it really wouln't make $ence to use it, your not gonna save any $$$. Use 93 and quit whinning or just go buy a limp wristed toyota prius

I have to check my records. I haven't filled up more than 18 gal. My light comes on around 3 gal to empy. I run 93 octane. 400 miles on a tank is 20 mpg if you run all the way empty, and I get about 20-23 mpg highway so it's theoretically possible. It's very rare though. Usually I get 18 mpg mixed highway and city.
