Is it just my 03 sedan?

oyyy.... its like, I'm glad I read this thread but at the same time I hate it because I know this probably applies to me as well..
So for the $1000 that was quoted, where is most of the cost coming from? Is it mostly parts or labor? I'll have to look into this pronto.
Are there any smells that could be attributed to this as well? I've been smelling this burning smell after I floor it.

Oh also, is there any maintenence that is supposed to be done on the torque converter (TC). I do have extended warranty on my car until 100K and was wondering if they could fix this for free. I don't think I've ever had any maintenence done on the TC, hopefully they won't negate the warranty work because of it.

Damn this sucks I hope its not what I am experiencing!!
I can lightly accelerate and its fine. When I push the gas it accelerates just fine but when I am shifting into the next gear its like its downshifting or lag like. Its really annoying especially if I am racing. It really slows me now, I dont now have to explain it

The Stillen VB won't "fix" the wear that already exists in the transmission. I actually didn't have a problem until I installed the Stillen VB. The extra pressure is what caused all of this to come to light. I don't have the parts list back yet for what they had to replace, but I'll pass it along when I get it. (It should be today)
Most of the cost of the rebuild is labour. It takes a few hours to remove the transmission and put it back. More in my case because of the TT - not a lot of room in there. They did have to open up the torque converter and clean out the debris that was in there.

sorry to bumping an old thread but this EXACT thing happened to me today. I was going about 70-75mph in my 03 5AT sedan with 59k on it and I put it into 5th (in tiptronic mode) and it just reved up to 6-7k and i hardly accelerated.
Did anyone know the outcome of this or what needed to be done. I have a feeling it's not going to be an easy fix......

Hey guys i have a question, i hear a click noise sometimes when accelerating. I have a 05 sedan at...do you know what that could be? Its not a big deal, it is one little click when shifting out of first to second...remember though, its a manual normal mode...not tiptronic. Is this the VDC control kicking in? Any help would be appreciated

I've heard of people with this problem and it was nothing more than super slow transmission engagement.
Although, typically it would be the gears/torque converter slipping which means rebuid time.
If i remember correctly, some people have had benefits from getting the TCU reflashed from the dealer. I would reset ECU and see if that changes anything.
