Resale value on car with replaced engine?

So I have to go back for my third oil consumption test pretty soon. My engine has been consuming 1.5 qts per 1000 miles. So I'm pretty sure that I will be getting a replacement engine. My question is this... Does having an engine replaced in your brand new car affect its resale value now and down the road?

I would see no reason for the value to be affected. The car will still be under warranty.

If it shows up on carfax or they take the time to run serial numbers many people will be scared off and the value will go down. Many people don't understand that it helps the car.

Yeah it's a subjective thing, no blue book effect or anything. Irregularities in carfax or whatever, good or bad, can scare away some buyers. Saying that it has a new engine sounds great to me but some people would feel otherwise. It's a very popular car and well reviewed car though, doubtful that many people would run engine VIN or go that indepth. Just don't mention it when you sell, run a carfax on yourself once it's done, I don't know if it would show up or not. If you're trading in to a dealer I have no idea, call one up and ask.

I don't think it will show up on anything but a dealer's service report which no one but the Infiniti dealer checks.

if it's like a 2k3.. and u have a new engine in 2k7.. i think it could only actually HELP ur resale value.. especially if it's a new engine put in by the dealer..

its only in carfax if he went through insurance, if he went through the dealship, under warranty, it would not be in the carfax, thats why car fax isnt all that reliable anyways,

Agreed, but he said it was a brand new car. I just wouldn't mention it to the public or trade it in to the same dealer that did the work. I would think it would be hard for them to decrease the value based on their own installation.
