i hit a 155 today on my g sedan 5at with 5 people in the car on a 2 mile stretch, with the air conditioner set on 60 the car ran great little loose in the front in but heck what can you expect at 155 mph. i was suprised to see that the air conditioner didnt start blowing hot air.

 

I thought I read in Car & Driver that the top speed is governor limited to 146 mph. However, I also remember someone saying that the governor feature can be easily altered. [img]/w3timages/icons/wink.gif[/img]

Without getting into the whole moral issue on going that fast and going to the question asked. I'm inclined to agree that the electronic nanny on the sedan is lower than on the coupe. Twice I've run up to 145mph only to be stopped at that point. Of course I was quickly running out of road so I wasn't actually able to keep my foot down very long, but when it hit 145 it had momentem that should have kept it going higher, but didn't. My experience agree's with the 146 limiter.

I have taken my sedan 6mt up into the mid 150's and never had an issue. It seemed my limitation was hitting redline in 6th gear rather than the govenor. It didn't appear I was being goverened at all. Car still pulled stronger than expect at that speed. I do this several times a month and never ran into the govenor... hopefully, I won't have to run into the judge after getting pulled over going that fast.

I haven't had my car up there... but by my calcualtions, reline would be above 170mph if it were not governed (6MT Sedan). Also, based on talking to others with 6mts, non have ever hit a govenor and have buried the speedo. Some day I will have to check this out for myself.

As for the 5 people in the car.... Not Cool, just stupid. I am nuts and can do stupid and/or crazy things but there is no reason to risk the liives of others even if they are in agreement.

 

Well Car & Driver in the latest $35K comparo where the G35 came out on top and they loved it, they say the top speed is limited to 155mph.

 

I went 105 once with my friend in the seat. That was preety damn fast, i can't even imagine 150.

 

I took it up to 110 on a couple of occasions. This is just too
fast and dangerous for me. The Law puts you in jail for going
that fast from what I hear.

That's actually how I know I can go that fast is running from the cops after the races. Those cruisers can't keep up, especially with the nitrous. I wonder if anyone knows the engine specs for the varous cop cars out there.
