Re: Anyone done the 15K mile service at the dealer

Just had 15k service, and I felt it was worth it....Pricey at $311. Had the microfilter (AC) replaced, oil and filter changed, lubed doors, joints, etc....I came in with my brakes squeeking a bit, so they replaced the pads and resurfaced the rotors under their brake program, all covered. Tire rotation, tires pumped up.Usual inspections...Even got a Carribean Blue G35 loaner (mashed on it!). Not bad. Decent car wash, I was pretty impressed.

Re: Anyone done the 15K mile service at the dealer

I just did mine 2 days ago at Sacramento Infiniti. I didn't see my check list mentioned replacing microfilter. Is this supposed to be done for 15k service? Or do they inspect it and will replace when necessary?

Over $300 for 15K service is a rip-off. I bet most of the items on the check list are visual inspection, and most dealers don't even bother to do it. It is called the "wall job"------park your car against the wall and the service is done and ready for pick up 5 hours later! When I owned my Acura CLs, I saw all kinds rip offs on that board also. Some peiple paid over $500 for 30K service! Honda makes some the most reliable cars. How else a Honda/Toyota/Nissan dealer is going to make money during the warranty period? Selling these services at exorbitant prices is one way.

Most of the so called "visual" checks you can do for yourself, besides, dealers probably don't even do them. As for changing cabin filters, what's so hard about it! If you can change your air filter, you sure can learn to do the cabin filter. To me, it is more gratifying when I do these little things to keep the car in good shape. And by doing them, you gain more knowledge about your car. My 0.02

Re: Anyone done the 15K mile service at the dealer

how does the factory and extended warranty work against the scheduled maintenance?

Does Infiniti require that all scheduled maintenance be performed at an authorized dealer? I have my 12K service coming up soon and dont want the hassle later on down the road from the dealership about the warranty when I previously chose to have my maintenance done myself.

Any thoughts?

Ken

if you have engine problems, they will always ask to see your maint records and will hold not doing the periodic maintenance against you.

As far as oil changes go... Synthetic at Tustin runs you $67

Re: Anyone done the 15K mile service at the dealer

Here's a coupon I found for Riverside Infiniti

** Change Engine Oil
** Replace Oil Filter
** Inspect Exhaust System
** Inspect Steering Gear Linkage
** Inspect Axle & Suspension
** Rotate & Balance Tires
** Inspect Brakes
** Inspect Battery
** Inspect & Clean Air Filter (doesn't say replace)
** Inspect & Clean Cabin Micro Filter (doesn't say replace)
** Inspect Drive Shaft Boots
** Inspect Vaccum Hoses

All this for $189.95.....

Tire rotation & balancing costs around $25 + Oil change & filter runs around $30. So I guess you are paying $125 for the labor to look at things.

Hmmmmm.....
