i just picked up a 2004 g35x last friday. i was cruising to work and at 80mph the car was at 3k rpms....kinda felt like the engine was screaming and being put under some undo stress. my last car was a a4 1.8t 6spd and at 80 it was just cruisng....the g is an auto 5spd

Deep gearing and it's normal. The deep gearing is one reason why these cars are so quick for having relatively small engines. If Nissan geared the G like Honda does the automatic TL, the G would be a slug just like the TL.
