what all is needed to do this ? what numbers did the car make and what 1/4mile ET's does that equate to for these cars ?

Holds up quite well. I've been boosted for almost two years and making ~425whp on my stock bottom end right now. The only tranny mod I have is a flywheel and clutch.

There are a number of guys over on my350z with nos/zex/nx exp/ etc. I would search around on there for info on their kits. There is also a top 1/4 mile thread where everyone has slips to prove it with some great times.

not many people mention rear end gears but I've seen somewhere on here where it has been done.

are you manual or auto ?
Gears are debatable. The 5AT stock gearing is pretty close to ideal assuming you don't change the shape of the power curve. I've run 24" drag radials on my G which lowered the effective gear ratio to a 3.6 which is in line with 6MT rear gear. I actually saw .1 second and 2mph slower ET/MPH because I was forced to shift into 4th a few hundred feet short of the finish. The extra shift and the less than ideal gearing of 4th for the 1/4 mile killed acceleration. The car "felt" quicker in 1st and 2nd, but after that, the OEM 3.3 gearing was far better.

A 3.9 gear might help things fractionally, but it would make 1st extremely short and would require DRs to plant the tires. Since the gearing is pretty much ideal from the factory, change to a deeper ratio really isn't going to improve things a whole lot. This isn't like a 96-98 Cobra with a super tall 3.27 gear which will drop .3 seconds and gain 2mph by simply swapping in a 4.1-4.3 gear set.

Go get a MD 5/16" Spacer... that's probably your best bang for the buck, then you can go from there

If you're not going with boost, get cams, a plenum spacer, headers, exhaust, and an ECu reflash.

it's been done here... with good results... oh, let me rephrase that before certain people start "expecting" some kind of proof... I have been very happy with the results! Several people have done it - I haven't heard of anyone being disappointed. It's cost effective and good bang for the buck.

I know this is an incredibly stupid question, but did you even bother to read ONE FVCKING post before you came in here with this question?

Did you notice we had an entire section dedicated to this kind of question, and that we had a search function that would likely bring up at least one of the three million threads where these exact questions have been asked?

Just curious.

man some of you guys are hard core. Kinda hard to search if you don't even know WTF you're searching for which is why he is asking.

Personally I just don't have the time to read every thread on the internet searching for a answer someone around here would be willing to give the answer to from simply asking.

1) It isn't a one answer question.

2) If you don't have time to research what you intend to do to your car you'll probably end up like the retards that make bad decisions then post how your mods didn't do ****!

3) the people you are asking for answers from did what we are suggesting you do - SEARCH!

4) After searching, if you have SPECIFIC questions, there are many knowledgeable helpful people out here that would be more than happy to help.

I have to agree. Unless one has been around since the beginning, it's extremely difficult to get the information efficently.
Even if you find a good thread, you have to wade though alot of BS in order to get that 1 sentence worth reading. And many of the older members don't give out the info. I understand that they get tired of repeating but then again it could all be solved with good stickies vs picture and video threads.

trust me man I know. I got frustrated as hell the other night just trying to put on my Nismo front bumper which should have been easy had I looked into the install ahead of time.

I do try to search personally but either I suck at searching or I end up with ten tons of irrevelant crap that doesn't help. Some people however just don't know where to start. Been there done that.

IMO just about every thread on here is a re-run already I'm sure. So if everyone searched and found what they were looking for there would be no new threads to look at. Then how would you spend your day
