Confirmed!, You CANNOT open the trunk with the button by the steering wheel if battery is out or dead. You must reach for the HANDLE in the trunk through the backseat access. You must also have the length of arm as a NBA player, I am 5'7" and I CANNOT REACH this handle. WHAT A BAD DESIGN. also my jumper cables are on the bumper right side, Too far away to reach with hands and they are in the cargo net, so pulling them closer with something is through the access panel is impossible. What are you talking about, once you have the rear seat folded down you can literally CRAWL INTO THE TRUNK.

I'm 5'10" and 200 lbs and even I can crawl my entire body into the trunk with ease.

I wonder is it possible to connect those jumper battery temporary to the battery terminal to power on all the electronics and pop the trunk that way if like what someone mentioned a subwoofer is in the way.

As long as you disconnect from the battery then yes, I use power packs to test stuff all the time since the battery is usually out of the car and I don't feel like lugging it back over from my charging station.

If it's a dead battery still hooked up to the car the jump box voltage drops substantially since the dead battery is basically just a giant voltage sink.

Rear seat in my base sedan doesn't fold down. Just the center armrest.

Keep a coat hanger under the rear seat, or keep your cables behind the subs and the opening.

I actually store quite a bit of stuff UNDER the rear seat next to the fuel pump Would be a great place to keep an emergency coat hanger.

I always carry a spare car battery with me just in case my car battery dies and I need to open my trunk.

Portable jump boxes work great for that kind of stuff. I really like the Stanley JumpIt 1000, it's got an air compressor, USB charger, flashlight all built into the jump box. The 1000 is still compact enough to keep in the vehicle without being TOO BIG.

I didn't realize the coupe and sedan had different trunk access, my bad. On the coupes the entire rear seat folds down.

For a sedan the rear seats should be removeable from inside the cabin though, the seat cushion removes the same on both vehicles, feel around in front of the seat right where the leather and carpet meet and you should find a couple of pull tabs, one at the front of each seat cushion. Pull both those tabs forward towards the front of the car and you can lift up the rear seat cushion then pull it forward to remove.

This allows access to the seatback mounting bolts, take those bolts out and the seatback should lift up to remove it, then you will have access to crawl into the trunk.

Actually cleric, removing the rear seats of a sedan still won't get you in there. There's a metal "seatback support" that I believe is welded in place with only the small access hole opening. So mounting a big sub box right there under the back shelf which blocks that access would be taking a chance. If the electronic trunk release mechanism ever failed you'd be in some trouble.

Holy crap...

Well I would take a jigsaw to it and make a real trunk access then put some tabs on it so it could be bolted back into place

It would be amazing if anyone has actually done this mod to a sedan.
