So my headlights decide to flicker!

Actually its the passenger side. I Just noticed it tonight and my drivers side turns on fine but the passenger side "strobes" then shuts off. I dont think its the bulbs because it still blinks so i'm thinking its the ballast. What do you guys think?

How expensive is it to buy one?
Any good deals out there?
Do i have to do the bumper removal for this or just the wheel well aproach?
I searched but did not see anything about blinking headlights.

thanks!

i have a ballast for sale if you're intersted. factory ballast, mounts directly under the headlight. PM me.

And to answer your question, yes you'll have to remvoe the bumper for this one, there is no going around it...lol.

Could still be the bulb but sounds more like the ballast or ignitor to me.

It would be a lot easier to pull the bumper. If you get another ballast you coudl pull the fender well and try the plug first but it is not much more work to pull the bumper cover.

If you want a ballast try so_cal first. Next look at ebay. That is where I got my pair for my second HID projector conversion.

thanks! I do have one spare bulb to test to see if it is the culprit but i think its the ballast. It was on this morning but not when i got off of work? It has not rained it 2 weeks. I wonder what happened?

BTW, is the igniter part of the ballast or a separate item?

It might be a good idea to acquire new bulbs and switch them out at the same time. The flickering of the bulbs may have severly shortened their lifetime, and it may be easier to just replace them at the same time so you don't have to remove the bumper twice

Well since it seems that i have to remove the bumper now what else can I change or replace while i do this new project.

What are those good 4300K phillips bulbs that yall talk about?

Are they a lil more intense and are they white with a hint of blue?

what are good led replacement citylights?

should i change my high/fog beam to silverstars?

what else should i do?

This is my new project. wish me luck

UPDATED!!!! FIXED!!!!!

Turned out to be the bulb after all! When I took the bulb off i noticed something strange. The very top part was missing. I looked in the bowl shaped metal part right under the bulb(shield) and there was the other part. It must have cracked during the time I was at work. The bumper removal was not hard at all. Took me about 15-20 minutes to get the headlight out. I put in my spare an noticed little to no difference in appearance and color. I will be looking in buying a new pair of bulbs though. Thanks for the help guys! The bumper removal thread helped alot too.!
