What's the best gas for my 2004 G35x

Hello everybody,

Should I use premium gas for my G35x? Would regular gas be OK to use as well?
The car has 40k.

go by what the manual suggests. Most use premium while other that don't see the point of spending extra use regular. I prefer to follow to manual and only put in premium. Others have used regular without any problem, i'm sure you can search and find many threads on this.

The manual reccomends Premium or 91 octane, that is what most people use.
In a pinch you can put regular in but you will lose a bit of performance.

If you read your owner's manual, it says "Infiniti recommends the use of unleaded premium gasoline with an octane rating of at least 91 AKI (Anti-Knock Index) number. If unleaded premium gasoline is not available, you may use unleaded regular gasoline with an octane rating of at least 87 AKI number (Research octane number 91), but you may notice a decrease in performance."

The G's fuel management system makes adjustments for the type of gas you put in your car. The ingition timing, valve timing, spark energy, and of course fuel curve are all adjusted. The car has the ability to run on 87 octane without knocking or detonating because, for lack of a better term, it "de-tunes" the engine. Obviously, using 87 octane over premium will reduce performance, but it will not harm anything. It's just a matter of preference. I choose to use a midgrade 89 octane.

i have a 06 sedan and I notice a decrease in performance when even using 89. Doesn't seem to want to rev as high and as fast when not using premion. I think shell v-power is one of the best brands.
