2003 G35 sedan: window grease streaks & squeaking

Hello all,

I have a 2003 G35 that I purchased a year ago. the biggest issue I have had is with the windows. I get grease streaks on almost all of the windows. Aside from the streaks, the back windows make horrible squeaking noise every time they roll up and down.

My guess is that this car probably had the window rattle TSB's performed and there for the windows are rubbing too much. I also noticed that this car was previously tinted but the tint was pulled off.

Anyway, if any of you guys have experience with this, I would appreciate your feedback.

Same here!

I have the same problem with grease on about 3 out of 4 of the windows, the horrible noise your referring to only comes form my fromt driver side window, worst place to have it. When I first got my G I told the dealer about it and they lubed something in the window...more grease streaks but the sound went away...is back now. Do you know if this is a TSB and should they fix this for free if I'm out of warranty?

I think if you are out of warranty (like me) your are out of luck. The only perform TSB's under warranty I believe but I know there are exceptions, but those are for critical fixed.

Man, where I live, I am not sure how many shops would fix this issue at a reasonable rate. The problem is that in my mind, I think dealer may be the one that will now what the exact cause and repair is for this issue.

Sounds like they are over greasing the window guides to elieviate the window squeak.

Pull the door panels off one of the doors and take a look yourself. If I remember correctly, there is also two screws that hold the rails in place. Maybe one of the screws came loose causeing the rail to shift when the window rolls up? Just a thought.

If you live in Cali, bay area (East bay), swing it by my place and we can have a looksly

Hey did you guys work this out? My rear right started squeaking some and then a lot recently. I think it started when I went to a car wash. What the heck could they have done? I'm gonna get the door panel off when I get some time.

It's a Nissan thing. My 03 sedan did it and then it went away. My 07 Armada does it now on the driver front window. No squeaking, just grease streaks. You can pull off the door panels and look for excess grease from the factory and give it a little wipe. The squeaking usually requires alignment adjustment and new felt at the tops of the window sills.

Oh great. New felt? Where do I get that? Can you buy it specifically for the car you need it and in the spot you need it or do you have to cut it to shape? Do I have to buy it from Infiniti? Just great.

If anybody cares what happened with my window is that one of those felt flaps with the rubber on the other side had flipped over partly and was squeaking like crazy only when the window was coming up. (I should have maybe taken a picture.) Glad I didn't have to pull any of the plastic and that black goop loose that holds it to the metal frame of the door cause it's never the same afterwards.
