I was thinking of getting a z-tube, 3/8" spacer, test pipes, and a coupe midpipe. What else would I need to break into the 13s without FI, NOS, or stripping down the interior?

Rebuild your engine with the stroker rebuild kit of the VQ. I believe it makes your engine a 4.0L. Port and polish the heads.

I cannot stress harder that people should do a tune after extensive bolts-on.

Furthermore, if you really want extreme performance, forget about the coupe midpipe, it has been discussed before that it doesn't do shxt but for sound only. Get a good true dual like Stillen or Borla, pair up with Test pipes, 5/16" spacer and a good tune... should bring you closer...

More importantly, get some good drag radials and train yourself as a driver =)

Id second that ^^ Tuning plays a huge role in bringing up the hp! But you need to learn how to drive most of all.

I agree with a nice set of Drag Radials.

My best time at the track was a 14.3@99 with a 2.7 60'. With a nice set of Drag Radials i should be able to pull an easy 2.0 60' and shave close to a sec off that time.. Power is useless if you cant put it to the ground.

15,000 hamsters on an antigravity axis crankshaft.

Or sub 750 altitude and 40-50 degree weather

2.7 60' with DR?>.... the DRs didn't do you
any good...

Ooops... nevermind - my appologies - I re-read and understood you to say 2.7 "without DR"...

Decent track prep + decent weather + decent launch + avg pwr + DR = sub 2.0 60' easily! first 4 without DR = sub 2.0!

DR to me is like NOS (a bit of a cheat)... unless you run NOS and/or have DRs at the stop light, I'm gonna beat you to the fwy entrance

All your normal bolt-on mods with a set of drag radials that are nice and warm will give you a good shot at 13's.

+1

I ran ~2.0 60' on my 20's on a warm night.
