Re: G35x RPM Question

I think 3k on "performance sedan/coupe " in my view is quite normal.

My 94 Acura Legend coupe did about 3200rpm at 80mph. Made it very responsive at that speed
loved it : )

Re: G35x RPM Question

You think 0-60 times make a car fast??? I don't really look at 0-60 times when I measure performance. I look at 1/4 times and anything in the 12s I consider fast. This is usually the standard that most track people shoot for. Aderran, you obviously have a different idea of what's fast. If you wanted performance you bought the wrong car. And please educate me on what the G35x is targeted for. I think my view of the car fits more than yours: a great everyday driver with good pickup and smooth acceleration, can be considered a great family car. Please go a test drive a Corvette, Viper, Subaru STI, M3 or M5..... After you do this you might be on the same page as me.

As far as 4 baggers, they usually rev high and V8s usually rev a lot lower. I also had a Legend, it was a '93 230hp 6 speed and it was around 3500rpm at 100mph.

Re: G35x RPM Question

My old Accord had "good pickup." This is a sports sedan. A segment started by BMW, and now being done by several manufacturers. No, it's not a full-on sports car or race car. It's much more capable than your average daily driver family car, though. If all I wanted was a "great family car" then I can think of many choices that would fit that role better than a G35.

BTW, all cars are fast. Some just take longer than others to get up there. "Quick" is a more appropriate word, and the G35 definately deserves that title, even if it can't outrun a 'vette.

Re: G35x RPM Question

Cool...I understand what you're saying. 'all cars are fast'. I do agree all cars can go fast but disagree that all cars are fast, there's a big difference. Quick is a word that's used interchangeable with 'Fast'. Do you agree, if not try defining quick. I use the word 'fast' in my definition and remember you can't use the word to define the word. Is Micheal Vick quick or fast? I think he's both, that's my opinion.

Your example of a Honda Accord goes back to my previous post, everybody has different opinions on what's fast or in your case quick. I don't think a Honda Accord is quick nor do I think the G35 is quick. This is just my opinion. Please read my whole message instead of taking things out of context. I'm referring to your 'great family car' comment. I'm not even going to respond to that.

I'm sorry to all that we got off on a bad note on my first post. I'm personally going to kill this thread by not repling to it anymore. I've seen this all to much on other forums and I've noticed the best way to deal with it is to end it.

I'm going to the dealer Monday and I will ask about the vibration but I think it's just part of the car (AWD). I hope I'm wrong. Thanks for everyone that provide answers to my questions.

Peace!

Re: G35x RPM Question

I'm sorry, but I had to reply to this ignorant reply...How do I make you sick? And how am I 'Mr **** Retentive'? I think some people made some very good points and I feel that I did too. But people like you that do not provide any input, just arguements are the type that make other people feel sick. Stop acting like a teenager and grow up, that's if you're not a teenager. If you would like to continue this conversation please send any replies to chew_123@hotmail.com. No need to get everybody involved.

P.S. - Most Mercedes and BMW do rev a bit higher.

Re: G35x RPM Question

Really I thought you were done with this thread...

Why don't you sue under the lemon because your car runs 3K rpms at 80mph. You are off in another thread talking about it again. Who cares get over it.

And why would I want to talk to you? So that you can convince me that the car that I think is powerful is actually weak and slow? So you can get me to start worrying about how many rpms I am running in any particular gear? No thanks I'd rather live my life oblivious to such non sense. Thanks but no thanks

Re: G35x RPM Question

I was driving home today and realized an advantage of 3000 RPM at 80 mph versus lower RPM at same mph. There is better engine braking at highway speeds at this RPM. I'm sure most G35 drivers are tempted to drive faster than they should on the highway (well, maybe I should speak for myself...). Often when I find myself gaining quickly on the car in front, letting off the gas slows the G35 quicker than most other cars I have driven. Therefore, I find that I don't have to pump the brakes as early as I have previously experienced in other cars.

Well, I know I'm beating a dead horse, but I just thought decelerating a car more efficiently without braking power is a consideration not often thought of versus accelerating efficiently which everyone loves to talk about (see numerous threads on kills, 1/4 mile, 0-60, you name it).
