^^^ as I stated, if I had damage, there would be much more than taillights I need to be concerned with.

The OEM turn signal delete can be done without molding... read the thread and you'll get everything you need to know about doing it.

It was a valiant effort though, coming into this discussion defending him like Kevin Costner defending Whitney in Bodyguard, so touching.
he didn't identify you when he posted... it was a general statement because the same question keeps being asked over and over... and has been addressed.

He's right, the issues being mentioned are not a concern for me... the fact that they are a concern for you might mean it's not a mod you should consider.

Looks great, do you plan on filling the lower gaps around the taillight?

You're only half right , I would not consider doing it YOUR way, lets face it, you didn't exactly think it through.

I'll come up with a better way, thanks for the inspiration though.

glad my creative ability inspired you... too bad you couldn't come up with something unique on your own though

Hey, GoldV35. You may want to see if someone wants to trade taillights with you. Some of the guys that are into the JDM look really like them.

I'm sure you can mold it and keep the reverse lights functional but im not sure is worth the money and hassle. However you also mentioned this as well and i can't think of a way around that one

"Besides, on the reverse I do need to be able to remove - I have running lights wired in there (with the reverse lights) and need easier access than while on trunk."

correct... if you only wanted a 1 inch (or so) strip for the white light, there would probably be enough material to mold into... but that wouldn't look as good (imo) - it wouldn't flow with the taillights... the tails would just cut off at the trunk line and look odd.

Contrary to what was said by the noob a few posts up - I'm overly analytical about things and did think through a sh!tload of stuff about the entire body project (these lights are just one small part of a lot of changes on my car). Those that know me and were around during this project actually call me obsessive compulsive (because I over think many of the little things).

Many people think there are quick easy ideas - but often the ideas aren't thought through... I'm not referring to you blkonblk - but many people have suggested many things, that in the long run just won’t work.

For a relatively subtle oem-ish look that I was going for (with the entire car) the route I took accomplished what I was trying to achieve.

Edit: I just saw the pic you posted... on a black car with real dark tails - your idea might work because the tails blend in with the trunk and quarter panel... on any other color it wouldn't work. But because they blend in so much, you really don't even need to mold anything in - you already pretty much have the look.... I like Darren's car (southbayGsedan) - from far away the way he had his painted looks like they are separate lenses - but again, you can only pull that off on a black car.
