Compass/Temp Display

Something is up with the plastic cover on the compass/temp display. There is a streak that goes from one end to other. It looks likes its melted or something, maybe its condensation, but its messed up. Any idea what it is?

Re: Compass/Temp Display

It's prolly something on the outside so you can use some warm water and soft cloth to clean it with. Careful not to drip any water down the center stack.

Colin,
LOL, is "prolly" a Canadian word? Oh, and is it Canadian or Canadien?

haha, nahhhh Tom, but I'm feeling a little tipsy this evening so I slurred my words a little.
Prolly won't ever happen again...

In English speaking Canada, it's Canadian,
In French speaking Canada, it's Canadien.

Re: Compass/Temp Display

I tried wiping it off. Its like the plastic melted or something. I'm going to take it to the dealer.

Re: Compass/Temp Display

is that streak interfering with your temp display/accuracy? if so, there is a TSB out for inaccurate ambient temp display and the dealer will just replace the whole kit for you.

Oh, good, that's a great excuse, I've prolly used that a lot myself!
Thanks for clarifying the "Canadian" thing. I always wondered about that one!

Re: Compass/Temp Display

I have the EXACT same issue. Did you ever find out what was happening? I also have something similar on the plastic in front of the main dash (tach, speed, etc.). It's not near as pronounced but it doesn't look right I know that!

Re: Compass/Temp Display

I have a problem with the compass also! About a week back, I got my car serviced at the Infiniti dealer and shortly afterwards noticed that the compass was malfunctioning. It would not show "N" for north. The needle only oscillated between SW and SE!! When I called the service guy at the dealership -- he suggested a reset routine that I could try. Several attempts later, the compass display just disappeared. I don't miss it at all -- it looks better without it than when it served no purpose. I suppose I will have to get it fixed the next time I am at the dealership, but I was wondering if anyone else had the same problem and had found a solution.
