is there a dealer software upgrade for auto transmissions?

Yes, but good luck getting the dealer to do it because they'll probably look at you like a deer in headlights. If they are willing to do it, expect to pay $80-120 to have them do the flash. These are the ECU/TCU update programs are:
Part # 23710-AM604
Part # 31036-AL004 (newest verison I believe)

I looked into this also and I agree with DaveB, good luck. When I asked about this the replies that I got were deer in the headlights to down right nasty. One option would be to go to: http://www.nissan-techinfo.com/infin...m.asp?mscssid=
and to download the TCM/ECU update, you can get temporary access to the site to download the software. But then the only problem is finding some with with a Consult II or III and know how to upload the new program.
From what I have read else where Part # 23710-AM604 is the newest version for our cars.

I had previously upgraded the original 31036-AL000 program to 31036-AL004. This had helped a little. Gord's 10-wire GroundingGgear kit helped more. The Stillen valve body increased the speed and firmness of the shifts (especially in MM), but not the delayed kickdown time.
Those in Southern California can contact Mike Longridge at Riverside Infiniti or PM Chad@InfinitiSpecialists (a sponsor here)... they can hook you up. The reprograming runs about $100.00.

UPDATE:
Ok guys just went to my local Nissan dealer, they had no problem with doing the reflash. They found all the codes in their system , turns out 31036-AL004 is a code for Transmission reflash and 23710-AM604 is actually for engine ECU reflash. I did both, took around 45 minutes to do as program loads pretty slow into the vehicle. Cost me $54
Now it might be a little too early to determine if shifting or anything else has changed on my car, but initial impressions or "Placebo Effect" do suggest that shifting has less lag, shifts happens more when i want them shift and not the other way around how it was before. I will post more results after a few days of driving...

I forgot to mention , guy that was doing the reflash also checked my o2 sensors and AF ratios fro no charge. AF ratios from what he told me look very good at load and a little rich at idle. Although I'm not exactly convinced that his method "one foot on brake and other on gas" is sufficient enough to determine full load ratios...
