Paint Flaking on Homelink Button
Paint Flaking on Homelink Button
Anybody have their paint flake off of their homelink button yet? Is this covered under warranty? Shame that this is happening already. My homelink buttons on my 2000 Honda Odyssey are holding up fine. Cheap materials? Hope the 2005 has better quality material. See attached pic of my problem.

Mike,
That should be covered under warranty. If it's not, let us know.

I didn't realize those were even painted, I thought they were just black plastic like the remote, with the "house" being the color! Mine is okay, but my car is just 5 months old, we'll see!

Is your wife using her fingernail to press the button? my climate control buttons are cracked on my SHO courtesy of my wifes fingernails. Great for scratching my back but hard interior components

Re: Paint Flaking on Homelink Button
My car is a little over a year old now and this just started happening last week. I guess I could switch to another button, but it is just unnecessary usage that will probably result in premature wear. The dealer is ordering another part so it looks like it will be covered. My wife rarely uses my car. She and I both have short fingernails. Like I said before, I hope the new interior is better.

I still don't feel the materials are "cheap" in my G, after driving Ford's for so many years, so far, it's been much nicer IMO! At least Infiniti is replacing it after a year, I don't think Ford would replace anything like that, unless it didn't work!! LOL, looks like you have a train coming in your mirror, jk!

ABQ_G35, the cheap materials comment went towards the materials used on the buttons. Overall the G interior has superb materials. Is there better leather than the great quality we currently have? IMO there is too much plastic used inside the G. I would also like to see more (real) brushed aluminum and not this fake thin titanium glued on covering.
Re: Paint Flaking on Homelink Button
Oh, I don't know about the titanium trim, mine doesn't have that, my console is graphite, and I have the wood package. As far as the plastic goes, not sure you can get away from that, so far I am not unhappy with mine compared to the Ford, LOL!
