OP could it not fit infront of the spare tire well and behind the rear axle? Of course this would require the muffler being placed in side ways rather than flat and just have the pipes rerouted to come out the back and around the spare tire well. Im just asking because I can only speculate at this point. Sorry.

Did you consider the negative effects cutting a hole in your car might pose?

I don't know what thay may be but a year later it has been fine. You ever see a drag car cut all up ? They hold together with a hell of a lot more power and speed than our G's will ever hope to make. It's just a car and not even worh very much anymore. It sounds perfect and looks great to me.

Umm....those cars have welded in cages. That's where their rigidity comes from.

you obviously covered that hole somehow, does the trunk leak?

+1 to videos, would love to hear a sedan with the coupe sound.

It's been a while since I read this thread but I think he just cut out some of the spare tire metal and welded it back in. Shouldn't be any water getting in.

it looks nice from the rear but with that huge gaping hole in the unibody frame/shell, you've pretty much compromised your rear end crumple protection. be safe out on the road. it is the reason why the bottom of the coupe's trunk is higher... to allow the placement of the muffler.

yeah I hear ya on that it just seems like some freak out when cutting into / on a car period and the hotl is really not all that big. It still has plently of metal where it angles downward to keep the strength. Also some cross support bars could be welded in prior to covering the hole with sheet metal.

yes the car has sheet metal over the hole now and factory carpet over the hole. You can't tell when you open the trunk except the space saver spare is in there also.
