Although it looks okay I think cutting your trunk to fit an exhaust is one of the stupidest things I have ever seen.

Well cutting your trunk like that could certainly effect the stability of the car on the track. I am an enthusiast but only believe in mods that have a purpose, this is borderline rice IMHO...

While that may be true the OP stated that we was re-installing the missing trunk piece and was hoping to still fit a spare tire in the well. Does the owner of the vehicle race his car on a track? Now was the mod worth the cost to perform. That is a question that the OP can only answer as it is his vehicle and he did all the work himself. I have contemplated performing a similar set up due to the limited avaialability of exhaust for the G35X. I figure if I want it done to my liking and it is going to be custom than I am going to go with the set up I like. SO once again Kudos to the OP. I know I am not going to change your mind and you will not change mine so it is what it is.

I too think it's extremely crazy to cut into the car like that. Not only do you risk resale of the car if someone sees a cut/weld job back there, you do risk chassis torsional rigidity (even if repaired) and if you get in a wreck? Ha! Good luck dealing with insurance company when they notice the fab work (and they will) and try to tell you it was responsible for reducing chassis strength hence the extent of damage. Insurance companies have well paid lawyers working on their side. Do you?

I guess I'm dumbfounded as to why people to such complicated things to achieve a dual exhaust look. It is more than possible to install a clean looking dual exhaust and/or dual muffler set up out back without the need to cut up your car. you might need to use smaller mufflers and an extra resonator, but it's more than possible.

Thats it the vote is in. NOBODY do anything different. Everyone follow the norm.
What do you say to all the gear heads that restore old muscle cars and weld in new floor pans and patch panels...or say the people that mini-tub there cars to fit a wider tire in the rear. I am not saying what the OP did is the best option but much respect for doing something different.

Yea, but you can't get that coupe sound otherwise.

While I agree with you on lowering the re-sale value of the car you have to understand that cars are as much a form of self-expression as they are a form of transportation for some people. Some people like no mods other like lots of mods. It's just a preference thing.

Am i the only one that thinks thats one of the dumbest thing you could have done to your exhaust.

I see maybe doing some fab to fit a badass aftermarket true dual system, but come on a stock coupe muffler

it looks funny
your car is all hacked up
you dont get any power gains
and the resonator eliminates most of the sound besides the cats.

what gives?

lmao, some of you are def hating on the guys effort and custom setup. Everything gets so boring sometimes, and people aren't creative enough. Every single time someone does something unique and it gets posted up about 20 people take a look and think in their minds to do the same thing cause it will look good on their car, and its come out that its not so unique after all? NOW when you look at this setup, very small margin of people have the ***** to even consider putting a coupe muffler on a sedan. People that are calling the dude stupid is because you've never lived up to much imagination, all you do is dream. Props to this guy for making a piece of his dream come true....all the sedan owners WISH their stock exhaust sounded like the coupe, just in denial.....again good job, by all means proceed with more creative mods, let the haters talk crap...

Would it be possible to swap the muffler only and acheive the exact coupe sound note on a sedan, while retaining the stock single exit exhaust location? I have no problem buying any muffler available (oem, aftermarket, etc.)
