my 2005x tires are dying!!! The OEM bridgestone got 42K+ miles and now they want to RIP. They told me so during yesterdays raining when i went down a curved off ramped at a mere 45mph. Almost pee'd my pants.

Can someone recommend a good all season or grand touring tires from tirerack.com plz?

My OEM sizes are 215/55/17, but is it ok to go with 225/45/17? I got like 2.5 inches space gap between the OEM tires and the body of the car.

Budget is 500-600ish dollars. I like good balance between tread wears/steering/noise.
