I put a quaife in my car just recently because I wanted better traction from my tt. With the vlsd, I basically fishtailed unbelievably all throughout 1st and 2nd, I would only be able to grip in 3rd. This is on 245/35f 275/30r t1rs. With the quaife, it is better, the car doesnt fishtail when I gun it in 1st or 2nd, i just get tire spin which is a lot safer. i think an lsd is good buy for high hp cars. but of course, during spirited driving, the car hooks much better.

heres Cusco's promo video on their lsd. you get the basic idea of the difference between an open diff and lsd

To get a better understanding on why the VLSD acted like it did, go to post number 18 in the following thread.

Given the cost, would you do it again?

I have a 2005 6MT sedan. Does disengaging VDC (I know it's not fully disengaged, but the factory toggle switch) disengage the VLSD or is that always enabled?

VLSD is mechanical. It is always 'enabled'

I have a Quaife and 3.5 gears. I would do it again in a second. If you get on it in a corner, you get a much more controlled spin if the tires cut loose and since both wheels spin when it cuts loose, you get very limited interference from the VDC. I'm also in Canada so the added grip in the snow is appreciated. It really sucked when ther was snow with the open diff.

So you went from full open to the Quaife. I'm having a hard time justifying the cost for the occasional time I would really get use from it.

So if no 03 sedans have an LSD, why does my 03.5 6 speed get sideways anytime I want to with VDC off? It may not be viscous, but there is more than just an open diff back there.
