Re: Ypipe or Ypipe with cat's only

Alright, great to know, thanks....

Anyone have any opinions on the Greddy EVO2 exhaust, I am thinking of going that route with a y-pipe.

Jim,
That's very interesting 'custom' exhaust. Just a few questions:

1. What kind of muffler are those?
2. Have you dyno'd it? or at least what's the butt version tell you?
3. How's the noise level?

Thanks,
Clint

"Oem Z and oem G Y-pipes are the same parts. Do not waste a dime on buying a oem Z Y-pipe, if I understand right what was just said."

No, my wording probably wasn't the best choice, but what I meant to say was that an aftermarket Y-pipe such as a JIC, Japtrix, NFC, etc. on an otherwise stock 350z/G35 will usually gain around 5-6 rwhp as shown by dynos. That is why I just bought myself a NFC Y-pipe for my G.

Thanks Clint, I had a fun time creating it, nice to accomplish something yourself, well ok I didn't do the welding.

1. Mufflers are Injen SES, I went with them because I got to here the Injen system in person and I love it's sound quality.

2. No, I've never dyno'd the car. The gain's I got are equal to or slightly better to what I got with the Crawford pleneum, I'll go out on a limb and say at least 10hp, butt dyno of course.

3. In a side by side comparo to a sedan with the Stillen TD, the Stillen was actually deeper at idle. Using part throttle, the cat's to give out a rasp at about 3500rpms to 4500rpms. At full throttle the system does not have any raspiness and it's IMO just loud enough to make me happy, but I would not want it any louder. Getting back to the Stillen, I heard a sedan take off full throttle with the Stillen, it did not sound very loud. IMO, my system is much louder at full throttle then what I heard. On the drone issue, I have less of it then when I had the Magnaflow resonator on with the oem system, even then it did not bother me. In any event, I wouldn't think a system simular to mine wouldn't be a good idea for someone concerned about noise or sound level's. And since I run with the silencer's in place, nothing really can be done to quite it down.
