Anyone got a bad gear they want to send me (instead of tossing in the trash) so i can do up a drawing for a machninst to make one of these?

Unfortunately i might not be able to get all the dimension i need off a chewed up gear

I have one good gear I can send - as long as I can get it back . I'll probably need it when the other side goes out. Are you planning on having the shop make plastic ones? Does anyone know why these were made out of plastic? Seems like it's just asking for a failed part!

I'd rather not take a good one because i'd hate to mess up someone if it gets lost in transit or something.

I was thinking of creating an engineering drawing for the part to make one from steel. I don't think i would do this myself at this point...at least not til i get quotes after sending a drawing out to my machnine shop contacts.

hate to revive an old thread but can you tell me how you were able to take the gear out. I'm having the same problem in which my seats works intermittently. I have an old seat in which I want to swap the gear but I cant get it out. I already swapped the motor so i ruled that out. You can also reach me at jusjw@verizon.net.

Thanks Justin

I ended up using a wrench to keep the old gear from turning, and then used a socket wrench to remove the bolt at the end of the gear. Once the bolt is off, the gear just slides off. Let me know if this is not the problem you were referring to.

think on a high end car the dealer would be a lil more forgiving on parts. just for that lil gear go figure. rule of thumb. stay away from the stealership lol. hope u get it fixed.

Is there anyway to know which gear we have based on year model? I really dont want to take my seat out, look at the gear, put the seat back in wait for the gear to arrive then take it apart again.. If I must then so be it..

Yeah 05 sedan. Did you actually have to remove the seat? or just some parts from the track and motor assembly?

Just parts. no seat removal. The website JustinG provided a couple of posts up has pictures and step-by-step procedure.

basically it's 3 screws and the motor pops out.

So can you tell me what part you used? The gear, with neck and collar? Or without?
