What Should my Sedan Run the 1/4 @?
Will be running this weekend at atco mods listed in sig.
I was thinking as a first timer that anything under 14.6 is great. And secretly hoping for a 14.3 or so at say 98 or so.
Anyone with similar mods have a time slip?

Re: What Should my Sedan Run the 1/4 @?
I ran my auto sedan with stillen intake and greddy exhaust and ran a 14.6. The temp was like 64 degrees and I used brake-torque to launch the car at around 1700rpm. I was confident I could've done better...say like 14.4-14.5 but didn't want to push my car too hard.
I also ran my 6mt sedan last saturday. My best time was 14.8/94.9. I launched the car at 1800rpm and slightly slipped the clutch. The weather was like 83 degrees. I know I can pull 14.5 with better launch and shift points. By the way, my 6mt is stock except for z-tube.

Re: What Should my Sedan Run the 1/4 @?
are you an auto or MT?
i ran 14.4@99 stock in my 6MT sedan (that corrects to a 14.2@100 at sea level). Average runs were 14.5, bad runs were 14.7
My strip is at 1200 feet
I honestly don't think you will be any faster than stock. you have alot of new weight to offset your pulley and your plenum.
Good luck

Thanks 3.5 i've been reading some old posts on how to launch that you have written...Anything worse than a 14.6 and i may buy a prius and quit this mod fun.
AS far as weight - what is heavier. Going down the list:
Cai - cant be that different than stock
HG Wires - 10 wire are alot but prob offset by the pulley weight
Speakers - couple more oz's
PLenum - lighter
shock sensor is a few grams or at most 2 oz
pulley is lighter
The h-liner was 2 pounds before i cut it apart
Also removed battery cover and engine cover and guess i'll dump the GF, spare, mat and jack to make sure I dont end up in a prius.

Re: What Should my Sedan Run the 1/4 @?
sorry, i see sound deadening I think dynamat, which is very heavy. Nothing else struck me as heavier.
14.3 is reasonable in an automatic STOCK if you know how to drive and get a 2.1 60'
Practice, practice practice. You as a driver should make more of a difference than those mods you listed. They might make 0.1-0.2 second difference. you as a driver should be able to make 0.3 seconds difference before the mods.
I haven't done alot of mods yet for that very reason. This car is beyond my skill level still especially in Manual form. There is a guy over on My350z.com running low 13.7's bone stock whereas most are running 13.9-14.1. That is just due to driver skill.
On this car tires make the biggest difference next to a forced induction mod in quarter mile and track times. Once you get traction than you start working to speed up your shifts. Easily done for about 500.00 in an automatic. IMHO, that is when you should start modding, once you got your times as low as possible stock. Sorry for the diatribe, I just have strong opinions.

Re: What Should my Sedan Run the 1/4 @?
Your 60' time will have the biggest impact on your ET's. As mentioned traction is needed and our stock tires/width do not provide enough. Combined with a poorly prepped track you'll have a very difficult time reaching your goal.
My car is stock and I have run the time in my sig. The EL42 Turanzas I run are all season tires and offer very little traction. With ideal conditions and a sticky tire this car could dip into the 13's. I found that when I hot lapped the car it made no difference over letting it cool off between runs. Actually, my best mph was my second run back to back.
Remove whatever you can easily from the car and run about 1/4 tack of gas. I have read that Atco is a fast track, I think you'll do fine.
Good Luck!

Yeah turanzas bite. I was going to drop them to 24 psi and turn the VDC off
QUESTION: tranny mode? I say leave it in D and let the plenum work up to 6800. Anything I do with MM would be less than the computers efficiency right?

I read in another forum, www.g35.net, that someone did 1/4 mile in the low 14s 5AT. I think he posted 14.2 but I call bs.

A great thread containing good information.
If possible please include AT or MT, mods, mileage, ambient temperature and elevation in your post.
Wish I include my times... but I only have some G-Tech runs.

Re: What Should my Sedan Run the 1/4 @?
Well went to the track last night. 75 degrees, clear calm night, except for the moskeeters. Best time was:
14.67 @ 95
60' was 2.25
out of 6 runs, never went above 14.90
Next time I'm taking the 19"s off and swapping with the stock 17's. Who's next...
