End of debate.

Its quite futile actually, because no one in this thread is going to have a GPS system with anywhere near the ability that we are talking about anyway...

So again - for the point that this thread began... the speedo is as good of an “indicator” as anything else... for “accuracy”, any one of us can gain access to a laser or radar gun.

Plain and simple. We can stop beating it to death now.
I'm just trying to get the point across that the claims of 160+ are most likely inflated because of the speedometer inaccuracy. As speed increases, the error become nearly exponential. If they're running shorter tires, even more so. A lot of people underestimate the amount of power it takes to overcome wind resistance. Take the 1st G35 for instance. It's a legit 150mph car. Not bad for a car with 220-235whp. Then look at the Veyron. It takes over 700whp more to go 100mph faster.

I agree that the 160+ claims are likely not accurate... in fact they could be complete bogus altogether

It takes the vehicle approximately 42.8 seconds to reach 140mph
Takes me around 10sec from a dig.

The 5AT is reportedly speed limited to 146mph, per Technosquare.

they remove that limit with their flash though...

I'm not sure how much more after 140 these cars have in them (mine anyway)... even though I was running out of road - it wasn’t pulling much by the time 140 was reached... I'm sure it had more in it - but sluggish getting there.

I don’t see any practical reason to need anything beyond 146 - even on a road course

HA Ha true that but the G35 sedan is sluggish anyway so unless your on a straight away for at least 15 miles there is no way you will get to that speed

Coming out of a 45mph tollbooth, i was doin about 50, kicked it into 3rd and floored it. redlined in 3rd, took 4th to 110 then put it pack into d. saw the road was empty and floored it. car pulled all the way to 130 without a problem, it still had more. at night no other cars. backed off at 130 because well 130 in a 65. 3 lane open road at night with highbeams on. car is a beast but 130 is enough for me!

Fastest i've gone in my G35 is 90MPH.

I've driven 150MPH in a car before, but honestly, i couldn't even tell you the last time i went over 100MPH. Just never had the desire. Too many things can go wrong and it's not worth it to me to get busted doing that speed.

I'm getting old
