Finally got My G too !!! ( a bit wordy )

Hey y'all,

I've been lurking here with only a few posts since January when I gave up on adding a Porsche to my stable and decided to take the $$$ I had earmarked for that, sell my Protege5, and get a G. I hassled with a few dealers before finally ordering one. Actually I "took over" an existing order for what I wanted back in the beginning of February. All I wanted was a BS/G 6mt with nothing else. Well as it turnes out the car was actually ordered with splash guards, trunk mat, and SUNROOF !!!.

Arrgh. I decided to keep the order since the it was due in May and I didn't want to wait any longer. Last week a new salesmak calls and says that my salesman was out on medical leave and that he's my guy now --- and my car is due on 4/16. Yeah !!! Well 4/16 goes by and then 4/20 goes by and still no car.

So two nights ago ( wed ) I'm checking out the dealer inventory search and lo and behold another local dealer has two 6mt's in black/graphite: one like the silver one I had on order and onw with just the splash guards and trunk mat !!

After a bit of confusion wed evening and thurs morning they found the car on the lot - it had JUST come in. We picked it up thurs night !!! My wife decided she liked the black better ( even with the harder upkeeep ) and I realized that I really didn't want ANOTHER silver car. Gotta have some variety !

Soooo, to make a long story even longer, I GOT MY G !!!!

Black/graphite with NO CRAP ! No useless premium package features that I'll never use that just add weight and complexity. No Bose junk. And best of all NO STUPID HOLE IN THE ROOF to leak and squeak. I have an Alfa Spider for those days.

I already have a Z-tube, Pop Charger, clear corners ( to be tinted ), and drilled pedal kit waiting to go on the car. The tinting will happen in June and I'm looking at exhausts. I have a really great Clarion PSW160 sub I'm gonna wire into the stereo and I'm hpoing to due the painted M3 spoiler too.

You'll be hearing from me I'm sure ad I get used to the new beastie.

Later dudes ( and dudettes )

Congrats, alfapwr, sounds like you got a great ride! Of course, I am a bit biased since it is EXACTLY like mine except for the color. The lack of sunroof will also give you about 2" more headroom.

I would be interested to hear what you paid for it.

No need to implore you to enjoy, all of us here know you will!

Re: Finally got My G too !!! ( a bit wordy )

Hi Thor,

I paid $250 over invoice for a total of $28449. With tax, license and fees the total was $31117. This is the deal from the Costco buyers program. I believe that there was a $400 "marketing assistance" charge built in to the invoice price. I'm sure the dealer will make a at least $1500 after holdbacks and spiffs are factored in.

Yup, I'm glad I have the extra headroom. I'm 6'1" and all leg, but I have lots of friends/family who are shorter but sit taller so they'll be happy too. I only used the moonroff in my old car out of guilt - maybe 5 times a year to keep things lubricated. All they do is make noise and give problems down the road. If you can't fold the whole top down what's the point anyway ???

And yes, I'm enjoying ! Power is very intoxicating !

Just splash guards and trunk mat - NO OTHER USELESS CRAP !!!

A great car for a great deal- does life get any better than this?

I hear you about that obsession g35girl, I fully admit guilt. My wife has had about enough of it I think, says "it is just a car". I feel just a tad guilty that I have not let her drive it yet (6800 miles on it), but then again, she has not asked me.
