Atco Meet 1/4 Mile Times
Hey guys good to be at the meet today. Looked like a huge # of cars and good number of G's. Not a ton of sedans but there were some there. I think a couple sedans ran but only my GF saw them. Video of the first run that started at 11:45 coming I hear. I Saw a couple Z's run 13.1. I Saw a couple six speeds Z's run 14.4, 14.3. Saw a G coupe run 14.6 6 speed I believe. Saw a harley superbike run a a 8.8 even after getting out of the throttle before the line. THey told us they were shooting for 6.5. !
This was my first time running or even at a track event period. FUN FUN FUN

Re: Atco Meet 1/4 Mile Times
sixfive....Congratulations on a really fine run.......
I think with the exception of one or two modded Z's that ran in the high 13's, Your car was Champ!
You did a good job of driving, left great (good reaction time) and you just flew...........
I have your run on video, but I didn't do to good a job because of the sun glare in my LCD screen on the camera. I missed you going thru the traps..........
Anyway, you should be proud to represent the G people the way you did.........DRIVE ON!
Dennis
ps maybe next time I'll put on the helmet and show you young'ins how its done! j/k

Re: Atco Meet 1/4 Mile Times
heh,
i remember walking thru the staging lines and saying to myself "really? a sedan?". then when i saw it run, i said to myself "holy $H!+". afterwards, i had to find sixfive to ask what he had under the hood. when i found the car outside, sans sixfive, i tried to seewhat he had. it looks bone stock. now that is what i call a true sleeper.
i eventually caught up w/ him. congrats on that 14.2 sixfive, you make me proud to be a sedan owner (a 5at one at that...)

I'd love to see what some of the other times were. Did anyone compile the stage lane 6 runs for us?

Re: Atco Meet 1/4 Mile Times
I did have another question to ask you.......
When you launched your car.....were you power braking?
Or did you just nail it at the light?
Your reaction time was pretty awesome...........and you blew off the guy you ran (no offense to the other car)
I was wondering if you power braked for all that launch or it was the plenum that gave you that extra torque....Thanks

Re: Atco Meet 1/4 Mile Times
I followed someones advice and power braked it to only 1600 - 1800. The second run I didn't get it past 1300 since I has overshot the light and was in R for a second and just wanted to be in the right gear for a green! The launches were good since I think there was a lot of good rubber on the lanes and I burned off all the crud pretty good and warmed up the all seasons. The plenum has every bit to do with the extra power. Also the I reset the ECU, and put it in 4 MM mode and left it. That first run I just nailed the gas on the last yellow and never saw green. I was thinking all morning about the launch and it paid off. Good advice on these boards about how to do this stuff. Thanks guys!
Also the pulley must help. I find the car cruises way too fast on the highway very easily thanks to all the lower end power. I think the plenum helps more in the high end where you can get a better shift at WOT but also helps down low too a bit. My mod combination is the money if you ask me. Cost is low and productivity is way high!

Re: Atco Meet 1/4 Mile Times
I would say the mods were a sound investment.....but give yourself some credit.....First time out and a reaction time like that.....you'd make John Force proud!!!
I don't know if you realized but many of you "deep" staged, meaning you staged to turn off the top staging light.....
Its harder not to red light, but when you hit it right, Your going to have some reaction times.....
Thanks again for representing the G people....

Re: Atco Meet 1/4 Mile Times
This helps put things into persective. A guy in an intake upgrade only 6sp Z got a 13.54 at 103. A procharged one got a 12.8 and someone got a 13.1. There is a much bigger difference than i realized between a G coupe and a Z. Any car stock dipping into the 13's is carrerra territory.
As for sedans and g coupes. most coupes were 14.7 or 8 and stocker sedans were high 14's. Not much difference.
Now - whats my next mod?

Re: Atco Meet 1/4 Mile Times
There was a bone stock auto Z with the OEM 17's. He ran a 13.8 I believe.
As for me... 15.4 @ 95mph. I dumped the clutch at only 2,000 and couldn't get any traction at all. Spun the tires all the way till third gear. Sucked that we could only get one or two runs in.

Re: Atco Meet 1/4 Mile Times
I was surprised as well. I think it was becoming clearer to me that Z's are sacred when i looked at the last motor trend or c&d and the test times were 13.7 for a stock 6sp. That's hauling ****. 13.5 from that one guy is quite impressive for a CAI only. Unfortunately there's not much an AT sedan driver is going to do other than get slicks or go supercharged to get those times. I guess you could run on E, gut the car, do every NA mod possible and you still would have a tuff time getting to 13.5. Z's are lighter by far and shorter drive axle is good too.

Re: Atco Meet 1/4 Mile Times
i see i see. Well arent the Z's and G coupes almost the same weight? Not only that, the G coupe has 7 less horse power. That's not that much when you think about it. I've never heard of a coupe seeing the number 13 in a 1/4 mile. I would love to see that, but its just hard for me to believe that the Z ran low 13's just from a CAI. WOW! SixFive you're from philly right? when we gona get together and go to the track?
