remote tricks

lol; after six months, I didnt know that the front windows can be open from the remote. What else can it do? Can it really be remotely closed?

Thats it, they only go down... No other tricks unless you can program it to do so.. :-)

Re: remote tricks

I think the back windows only go down if you have a certain package. I don't have it.

Re: remote tricks

All the windows go down on mine... I have the original model with Premium. I wonder if only the front windows go down with the remote was part of the mid-year change???

Re: remote tricks

Nope, I have a mid year and all 4 go down. Just hold the open door locks button down. It will wait momentarily after opening the front windows a crack and then proceed to lower the rears. Not sure if this is for premium equipped only or not. No details to any variance in the users manual.

Re: remote tricks

Rear window down is part of the Premium package only, I believe.

Re: remote tricks

Correct, gordgee. If you don't have the premium, you don't have auto up-down on all four windows, even with the interior switches. You need the premium package to get auto up/down on the rear windows, so that the remote can roll them down.

Also, you can roll the windows up with the key. Turn it to lock the car, and hold it in while the windows go up. Unlock rolls them down with the key, too, and unlocking the driver's door twice with the key unlocks all doors.

Another remote trick is to hold the lock/unlock buttons both down for 3 seconds. This toggles the car alarm between audible and silent modes for locking/unlocking the doors with the remote.

Re: remote tricks

Thanks for the info ryoken.. I knew there had to be some sort of quiet mode.. I hate going home and waking people up with the HONK HONK..

Also does anyone oknw if it would be easy to change out my drivers side window buttons to make them all AUTO like the front two? Ive ALWAYS wanted to do that.. as stupid as it may sound. :> Is it just the button that needs changing or is there more electronic equiptment?

Re: remote tricks

whoa we got the perfect sedan, I bet a 2001 325i can't do that. I rather open a windows from a parking isle away under sun than twisting key for exact seconds on a bimmer.

Re: remote tricks

The BMW key fob can open and close the windows, at least the 2003 I test drove could. And it opened and closed the sunroof, too. The G35 doesn't include the sunroof in the auto-open-all thing.

Pesti: Sorry, I image there's some more electronic junk involved. It's part of the Premium package. There's also some sort of sensor to stop the windows if they get caught on something (say, your head). It's probably not cost-effective to retrofit it.

Re: remote tricks

Damn.. Ill ask my service rep when i pick up my G tomorrow... I was just thinking ti was a "sticky-type" button..where if you push it down it will just stay down for X seconds..
the sensor thing has to be on all windows..auto or not *by not i mean the AUTO button or the normal push button* (i think) for protection..
