Removal of passenger side front door panel

Good Morning everyone;
I am new to this forum and have been searching for information on how to remove the inside front passenger door panel on my sedan. I have the "clicking" sound that has been reported. I had it on the driver's side and the dealer fixed it under the "adjustment" period but I purchased my sedan in April of 2002, so they said they would charge me to do the passenger side. I am pretty mechanical so I feel comfortable doing this. Your help is much appreciated.

Its still under warranty right? They shouldn't charge you for anything!

There is no reason they should charge you for it, unless you
have over 60K miles! I have 39K miles and Infiniti still looks at
my car for free under warranty. Taking off the panel is easy.
Do a search and you should find pics and a write up on how
to do it.

Re: Removal of passenger side front door panel

Hi Guys;
just got off the phone with the Service Manager and Infiniti Canada only covers these "adjustments" for the first 12 months. Don't have no other option as they are the only Infiniti dealer here. I did a search and found some diagrams on the coupe but none on the sedan. The coupe diagrams hopefully will be sufficient. If anyone has a shop manual for the sedans, a posting of the pages would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Your dealer stinks! Mine has worked on door rattles after
2 years of owing the car. Be sure to let them know that they
SUCK.

fixing a problem is not an adjustment - you should contact infiniti north america.

Check out my freshalloy posts on

Rattling Door Clips
and
Additional Rattle Protection

My advice to you is YES do these fixes yourself. With the same felt and weather stripping I've fixed ALL my door rattles and now a roof rattle that cropped up too. Now I have a B-Pillar rattle that I'm going to dig into sometime but overall my car is pretty rattle-free

the dealer sometimes introduces more rattles than they fix when they start taking stuff apart, just do it yourself and you'll guarantee the work and make sure you do a good job Plus, it's just fun.

Re: Removal of passenger side front door panel

Thanks for the info Doogie. I am pretty good at this kind of stuff. My wife hit a piece of concrete(pole in her parking garage at work) and cracked the driver's side rear view mirror cover. I picked one up from a salvage dealer outside Sacremento and installed it myself in 1.5 hours which was less than the dealer would have charged(by time) to replace it.
If it's the clips, I know how to play with them from installing the mirror.
I'll post an update when I get around to doing it in the next couple of weeks.

Re: Removal of passenger side front door panel

There are 3 screws - one behind the pull handle, and 2 under the metal trim piece. After that it's just the plastic clips. Check out the first two pictures in this:

With a roll of foam tape, you can get rid of your rattles. I did.
